Palmier (YC S24) is an AI tool that understands any codebase.
Developers spend only about 30% of their time actually building new features, with the rest of their day taken up by tedious but necessary tasks like understanding code, fixing bugs, and reviewing other people's code. And this only gets worse as the codebases and teams get larger, context switches get more frequent, and general productivity starts to decline.
Palmier tackles this by having a uniquely trained AI model for every individual codebase, providing an accurate and precise understanding of the code. Palmier reviews code changes and helps catch potential bugs and security vulnerabilities, correct styling and formatting issues, suggest and implement optimizations, and write PR descriptions, (particularly helpful for non-native speakers). Users can query Palmier chat to quickly understand complex repositories and onboard 10x faster.
Founders Marcos Rico Peng and Harrison Tin, having worked at LinkedIn and Microsoft, recognized the challenges of navigating and onboarding to large, complex codebases and the slow, tedious process of code review. They first met as project partners in a computer science project at UC Berkeley and have remained close ever since, passionate about improving developer's lives.
Congrats to the team on the launch!
