I got to listen to a Q&A with Fed Chair Powell today at the annual conference for SABEW, the asssociation for business journalists. What was notable was not what he said but what he didn't say. There was no mention of a "Fed put" for falling stock prices or a trigger for action if the Tariff Wars accellerate. Instead, Powell talked about a new adminitration making change to "trade, immigration, fiscal policy and regulation" which will take "months" for the full impact to become clear. Meanwhile, markets are down another 4% today. Plenty of people are freaking out about their diminished retirement savings and even Powell had to admit that many businesses are putting expansion or acquisition plans on hold given the uncertain impact of the trade war. #pcbt #pacbiztimes @sabew2025 #jorgemercado #lindalebrock #CLUCERF #UCSBEFP
