Last Week, PA Health & Wellness Membership Retention Specialist, Dreona Bey, joined the seniors at the McDonald Senior Center for a gardening activity. In celebration of National Nutrition Month, they planted cilantro, basil, oregano, and parsley to promote healthy eating and fresh flavors.

Ambetter from PA Health & Wellness recently attended the Northeast Philadelphia Homeownership Resource Fair. This event was sponsored by Affordable Housing Centers of Philadelphia and Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation.

PA Health & Wellness (PHW) was the presenting sponsor for the MANNA (Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance) celebration for MANNA Nutrition Month. This year’s theme is, "Food Connects Us." Members of the PHW team volunteered with MANNA’s CEO, Sue Doughtery, preparing meals for MANNA’s clients. PHW is proud to be the only Community HealthChoices managed care organization working with MANNA to provide medically tailored meals for our participants. #phwproud #philadelphia #community

PA Health & Wellness (PHW) Health Equity Specialist, Tiesha Grundy, facilitated a partnership between The Delaware Valley Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association® and William Way Community Center in Philadelphia to deliver a presentation on Alzheimer’s and Dementia to a group of senior citizens. The engaging discussion inspired seniors to share their experiences as caregivers, wanting to improve processes for end of life services and wanting to learn more about how to reduce risks to developing Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Health recommendations included healthy eating, using cognitive skills and exercise. One of the participants shared that he is turning 75 years old and had returned to school. When his teacher asked the class about why they are back in school, many of the seniors shared that they wanted to avoid getting Alzheimer’s and Dementia. PHW is proud to support healthy aging of seniors in our community. For 50 years, the Center for Positive Aging in Lower Merion (PALM) has been a beacon of hope in the Lower Merion community, providing seniors with a daily meal and resources for housing, legal aid, health and wellness. Estelle Walker, along with staff and volunteers at the center, celebrated the grand opening of their temporary relocation while their senior center is being renovated. PA Health & Wellness is a proud supporter of the PALM.
