Say hello to a new subway map! Today, the MTA unveiled a new subway diagram that provides riders with essential travel information in an easily readable, bright, and orderly manner. Aficionados may notice that this new diagram looks familiar: The design was inspired by the iconic 1972 Vignelli diagram and incorporates elements from previous map iterations, such as the brand colors established by the 1979 and 1998 Hertz maps. Throughout the subway’s history, mapmakers have built on each other’s visions to progressively translate a complicated system into an accessible visual guide. The maps highlighted in this post show that progression: The Hagstrom map from 1947 used different colors to show the IND, IRT, and BMT subway systems, which George Salomon used in his 1958 map and station guide. Salomon’s map had straight lines and cohesive fonts, which was retained when a new version was produced by the New York City Transit Authority in 1967. And all of those designs informed the maps we use today. Check out the new subway map on digital screens in stations, and as it rolls out on train cars over the next month. Warner Bros. Entertainment's "A Minecraft Movie" has taken over OUTFRONT's Times Square Tower wrapping 2.5 blocks of Times Square and standing at 8-stories high! You can see these billboards in-person at 42nd Street and 7th Avenue in NYC and see #MinecraftMovie in theaters April 4 at IMAX on 42nd Street and in theaters everywhere. "Be brief. Be brilliant. Be gone." 💪 That was the best piece of advice my old boss, Liza Landsman, ever gave me. While it's certainly guided me more times than I can count to get to the point in big meetings, it’s also exceptionally relevant in today’s marketing world — where speed, clarity, and impact are everything. But here’s the irony: most marketers can’t move that way. Not because they don’t want to, but because the system isn’t built for it. Legacy agency models slow them down. Internal teams get stuck in the weeds. And by the time decisions are made, the moment has passed. I know this struggle firsthand. I’ve lived it as a brand leader at Walmart, Jet, and Wonder. And I see it every day working with Founders & CMOs at Beers With Friends 🍻. Marketers are under pressure to drive growth, stay culturally relevant, and execute flawlessly — all on tighter budgets and even tighter timelines. That’s why I wrote an op-ed for Ad Age — to challenge the outdated agency structures that hold brands back and to offer a better way.
