Ouster brought 3D lidar perception - a technology originally built for autonomous navigation - into the security space to give operators greater visibility and control in complex environments. Now at ISC West, it's powerful to see that technology in the hands of so many across the show floor. Ouster Gemini enables security teams to define digital zones and perimeters, track movement continuously through obstructed or divided spaces, and detect real-time zone infringements—expanding what's possible in high-performance monitoring. We're proud to bring lidar perception to the security industry and build this platform alongside the customers leading the way.

Ouster digital lidar's native intensity imaging capabilities are enabling advanced research in autonomous navigation. Patrick Pfreundschuh and colleagues at ETH Zurich have developed COIN-LIO, an innovative approach that leverages Ouster's intensity data to maintain accurate positioning where conventional methods fail. Their research demonstrates how digital lidar's dual capabilities - precise 3D measurement combined with high-resolution intensity images - solve a fundamental challenge in autonomous navigation: → Maintaining accuracy in geometrically degenerate scenarios like tunnels and open fields. → COIN-LIO processes Ouster's intensity data to enhance brightness consistency across different environments → The system identifies when geometric data becomes unreliable and automatically supplements with intensity information → Tests confirm COIN-LIO maintains positioning accuracy where all compared baseline approaches fail This research validates Ouster's technical approach - fusing lidar and camera-like capabilities in a single digital sensor creates measurable advantages for perception systems. Industrial obstacle detection demands full 3D spatial awareness. 2D sensors introduce blind spots and miss critical detail due to limited resolution and a constrained field of view—putting system reliability at risk. Ouster now integrates 3D Zone Monitoring directly into REV7 digital lidar sensors via firmware update. - 128 user-defined 3D zones stored on-sensor - 16 zones monitored in real time with immediate feedback - Configurable filters minimize false positives in complex environments - Dynamic zone switching responds to vehicle speed and orientation - Runs in parallel with full point cloud output Available on OS0, OS1, and OSDome, this firmware update reduces system complexity, preserves compute for other tasks, and shortens development cycles for collision avoidance. 3D Zone Monitoring is now available native on the sensor. Atlas now demonstrates reinforcement learning policies derived from motion capture data — marking a clear leap in robotic mobility. Developed through a collaboration between Boston Dynamics and the RAI Institute, the system delivers: → Human-like locomotion → Precision articulation with fluid control This week we were at ProMat 2025 where we saw an exceptional diversity of advanced industrial automation systems. The implications for robotics in material handling and human-robot interaction are no longer theoretical — they’re accelerating and we could not be more excited or optimistic.
