Thank you to Stuart's Opera House for sharing a look at the work of their Arts Education Program and the impact it has on youth in southeastern Ohio!
Last week, we hosted two days of Touring Theater Performances, welcoming over 800 students from Southeast Ohio to experience live theater at Stuart’s Opera House. 🎭 For many students, especially those from schools with limited arts programming, this was their first time experiencing live theater. Programs like these not only introduce students to the transformative power of the arts but also help develop critical skills such as public speaking and creative expression—all while fostering a deeper connection to their community and its historic theater. A huge thank you to Ohio University's Performing Arts Series for partnering with us on this initiative and to the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation and Ohio Arts Council for supporting our arts education programming!

Over the next ten years, support from the Foundation will prioritize scholarships for high-need students and students pursuing primary care at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. The Foundation recognizes scholarship support is essential to recruiting, retaining and rewarding highly qualified, aspiring physicians who are committed to practicing primary care and in high-need specialties, especially in Appalachian and rural communities. Hear directly from medical students on the importance of scholarship support to their education, careers and service below.
“I felt so thankful that there were folks out there that are willing to support medical education." Over the next decade, support from the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation will help provide annual scholarships to 100 additional HCOM students, reducing the cost of in-state tuition and fees by at least 50 percent.
