𝐑𝐚𝐟𝐚 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬’𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡. After missing the cut in 13 of his last 14 tournaments, and not getting paid for it, he finally found relief. Last weekend, he won the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, $1.2 million and a spot at the Masters. Prior to the win Rafa Campos became deeply depressed, as his bills mounted and his young family was feeling the pressure. Some will say, “Get a real job.” But for athletes, first responders, even veterans, whose entire lives and identities are built around a calling and performing at very high levels, it’s not that simple. It’s not just a career. 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐭, 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐧𝐨 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐲 𝐨𝐟𝐟-𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐩. The stakes are high. The mental health toll is real. At Onrise, we build care systems for athletes and high performers, because too often, when the world moves on, they’re left to pick up the pieces alone. Congratulations, Rafa. And to all those fighting battles we can’t always see, we see you!

"𝐈 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞, 𝐈 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐈 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐨. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐈'𝐦 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞, 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐭𝐫𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭." Some college athletes are transferring, not always because they want to, but because they feel like they have to. This quote reflects tremendous inner conflict, the fear that transferring might strip away not only the comfort and familiarity of your current program but also the drive that propels their performance. These are hard decisions all all ages, but especially at 18-24. At the college level, athletic careers are intertwined with both competitive aspirations and personal development. However, an athlete will often feel inadequate when the measure of success is heavily weighted on the sport and performance metrics. With the right mental health support in place, athletes can find the space to say: “𝐈’𝐦 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞. 𝐈’𝐦 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐈’𝐦 𝐭𝐫𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭.” And really mean it, without shame, without pressure, and without the feeling that they have to leave to prove something. It gives them permission to stay when staying feels right. To feel proud even if they’re not starting. We try to help athletes reclaim the narrative that strength comes from within and your capacity to grow, adapt, and lead both on the field and in their lives.

  • How FERPA Creates Barriers to Trust in Athletics For student-athletes, trust is everything. But FERPA’s vague “legitimate educational interest” clause allows mental health records to be shared within schools—including athletic staff. This creates a culture of fear, where athletes worry about stigma or consequences like reduced playing time or scholarships. How Onrise Helps: ✔️ Confidential, HIPAA-compliant care. ✔️ Stigma-free mental health support. ✔️ A focus on athlete well-being without fear of repercussions. It’s time to rethink FERPA and rebuild trust for student-athletes. Let’s put mental health first. #AthleteMentalHealth #ConfidentialCare #FERPA #Onrise

  • The Cuts Have Begun. We’re Here to Help. Right now, across the country, college athletes are being told they no longer have a place on their teams. Not because they lack talent. Not because they aren’t working hard. But because roster limits tied to the NCAA settlement are forcing programs to cut players—many of them walk-ons who have given everything to their teams, their schools, and their sport. These are the glue guys. The scout team warriors. The kids who show up early and stay late, pushing their teammates to be better. And for so many of them, this isn’t just about losing a jersey—it’s about losing an identity. Athletic directors, coaches, administrators: These cuts are painful, and we know your hands are tied. But there is something you can do—ensure these athletes have the mental health support they need. The transition out of sport can be one of the hardest moments in an athlete’s life. Onrise is here for your athletes. Urgent care is available today and every day. We know what these athletes are feeling because we are athletes. We’ve been in those locker rooms. We’ve fought for those roster spots. And we’ve felt the heartbreak when the dream shifts unexpectedly. Let’s make sure these young men and women don’t feel like they’ve lost everything. Let’s remind them they are more than their sport. If your department needs support, let’s talk. We’re ready to step in.

  • FERPA vs. HIPAA: Why Privacy Matters in Mental Health FERPA is a critical piece of legislation—but it’s outdated for today’s mental health needs. Here’s how it falls short: ❌ FERPA: Allows internal sharing of mental health records within athletic departments, creating fear and stigma. ✅ HIPAA: Grants full control over who can access mental health records, ensuring true confidentiality. For student-athletes, this distinction is life-changing. That’s why Onrise offers HIPAA-protected care, giving athletes a private, safe space to prioritize their mental well-being without risking their standing on the team. It’s time for a new approach to mental health in athletics. #MentalHealthSupport #AthleteCare #Confidentiality #FERPA #Onrise
