Now that it’s clear that CPQ is KTLO, what do you do next? The answer isn't to migrate to RCA. Unless it’s the fit for your company’s needs. Unlike 2015, when Salesforce acquired Steelbrick, there are many alternatives on the market. Beyond typical requirements gathering, such as what you are looking to achieve, you should ask: If you want to buy software or partner with your vendor. If you want to purchase from someone who has had zero transparency around CPQ, leaving customers in the cold. If you want to purchase from someone who will raise your fees 12% YoY while not delivering any new features for that OpEx. If you want a product with a roadmap informed by customers 100x your size, not customers like you. If you want to be able to build internally, or be tied to partners for implementation and maintenance Personally, trust and transparency matter to me, and the Revenue team at Salesforce has shown through their actions over the last five years that they don't consider them an important core tenant. I implore you to explore other options rather than picking up another SF SKU. #salesforce #cpq #rlm #revenue #businesssystems #revops #steelbrick

It's a big day here at Nue.io! We are finally announcing our newest addition to the Nue-niverse Approvals Pro! Since I arrived, one of the most prevalent questions we received from customers was, "What about approvals?" It's the question that has slowed down teams for years, whether it was how to configure serial or parallel approvals; the standard OOTB approvals weren't going to cut it. As the businesses we sold to got more complex, so did the needed approvals, such as product line, finance, legal, and tiered discount approvals, which all needed to be run seamlessly in parallel. For our customers coming from Salesforce CPQ, the question was even more urgent: "What do I do about Advanced Approvals?" Because it is sold as a bundled subscription, they lost access when they transitioned to Nue. It's the most advanced approvals system I have ever had the pleasure of using, capable of parallel and child record approvals across any object in Salesforce without code. Moreover, it's incredibly easy to set up and handle everything systems like Advanced Approvals can without leaving Salesforce. But as with everything, I would rather show it than talk about it! Here is a video we created of the new System, its fantastic!

  • 🚀 We’re so thrilled to announce that Nue has acquired Approvals Pro, the leading sales approval solution for Salesforce-driven companies! Approvals are often a hidden friction point in sales and finance workflows. By bringing Approvals Pro into the Nue family, we’re eliminating that friction and streamlining revenue workflows like never before. 💜 This acquisition strengthens our position as the only full-stack Salesforce-native Revenue Lifecycle Platform. Approvals Pro will remain a standalone product while seamlessly integrating with Nue’s CPQ and billing solutions, enabling revenue teams to move from approvals to quoting, CPQ, and billing—all within Salesforce. Mark Walker: "Nue is all about reducing friction in revenue operations. By adding Approvals Pro, we’re making it even easier for companies to move fast and close deals without roadblocks." Go where the market is, even if it’s crowded. Last night at the Pavilion Executive Dinner, sponsored by Nue.io, I met Mark Walker: a Canadian founder who knows how to challenge the status quo. Instead of avoiding crowded markets, he leans in. Nue is taking on Salesforce CPQ and Zuora by rethinking quote-to-revenue from the ground up. His philosophy stuck with me: → Don’t fear crowded markets—solve what others accept → Build a team aligned with your long-term vision → Ask the hard questions—then move fast Mark said it best: “Understanding pain points that had become industry standard—and swooping in to fix them.” Big thanks to Mark Walker and Butch Langlois, and everyone who made the night one to remember. Great to meet you! Jake Romphf Taylor Bond Paul Abdool Andrea Bumstead Jeffrey Yee Phil Morcos, MBA P.S. Andrea and Paul—pretty sure we walked out of The Carbon Bar with more than just new connections. Great BBQ, even better conversations. #irl #event #GTM

I saw this coming years ago. Steelbrick/Salesforce CPQ was a fantastic product in its time, tackling real challenges in pricing and quoting. However, like many products, it had its limitations - especially after the founder and key contributors moved on to other ventures. The reality is, Salesforce CPQ wasn’t built for today’s modern businesses that require hybrid revenue models - blending subscriptions, consumption-based pricing, credit-based models, services, and physical goods - while also demanding a higher level of agility. Businesses today need the flexibility to iterate on products, pricing, and packaging frequently, which directly impacts billing and revenue operations. And let’s not forget channels - Salesforce CPQ was heavily optimized for direct sales, leaving many businesses struggling with partner and multi-channel selling. The insights I gained from both Steelbrick/Salesforce CPQ and Zuora led me to found Nue - designed from the ground up to solve the challenges of hybrid channels, hybrid revenue models, and fast-moving business environments. The EOL of Salesforce CPQ doesn’t mean you’re left with only one choice, like RCA. Businesses are already making the switch - every month, customers successfully transition from Salesforce CPQ to Nue. It’s the Nue era. 🚀

Salesforce CPQ is EOL. It's time to admit it as fact. Last week Salesforce announced that it won't sell Steelbrick/Salesforce CPQ to net new customers. Now, couple that with no product updates in 4+ years. What do you get? End of Life. We can argue semantics about how CPQ will still run and why no one needs to migrate (yet), which is correct. But EOL doesn't mean that a product doesn't work; it means that the company that made it no longer supports it. And that's what we have today: a product that drives a significant revenue stream without continued investment. Add in the fact that there's no feasible way to inject AI into Steelbrick, and no new revenue is coming in the door, and you now have no incentive to build new features. What do you get? End of Life. While Salesforce won't announce it or a sunset date, the writing is on the wall. CPQ is a dying product. I encourage you to begin discovery today to figure out your next move. If you're waiting for Salesforce to tell you, you may be waiting until it's too late. #cpq #steelbrick #salesforce #businesssystems

  • Overage charges in usage-based pricing: A hidden growth lever or a churn risk? As more AI products get launched with usage-based pricing, overage charges will become an exercise that many have to wrestle with. It can be a way to monetize growth and encourage upgrades. But if not handled correctly, they can backfire—leading to customer frustration, unexpected bills, and ultimately, churn. The best pricing strategy isn’t just about capturing more revenue—it’s about maximizing long-term value. A litmus test for your usage consumption tech stack - does it deliver long-term value for customers? Curious how to refine your usage-based pricing model? Here's a checklist we put together for RevOps leaders: https://lnkd.in/gctNwher

USAGE-BASED PRICING: a RevOps dream 💤 or nightmare 👹? Usage-based pricing (UBP) is all the rage in SaaS, especially when it comes to AI 🤖 More flexibility, better customer alignment, and revenue that scales with growth - sounds pretty good to us, so what’s not to love? Well . . . a lot, actually. 👉 If your product isn’t sticky, UBP can tank your retention 👉 If your metering is inaccurate, billing becomes chaos 👉 If Sales, Finance, and RevOps aren’t aligned, you’re in for a world of hurt Lucky for you, we called in the UBP experts Shannon Wiggen (Director of RevOps at ActiveProspect) and James McArthur 👋 (Head of RevOps at Nue.io) to break down the biggest UBP challenges and how to navigate them: ✅ Set the right expectations - nobody likes surprise overages ✅ Align internal teams - so Sales doesn’t promise something Finance can’t deliver ✅ Fix sales comp - because if reps aren’t incentivized correctly, UBP won’t work ✅ Plan for compliance - if you're gonna have auditors one day, you don’t want them to have a meltdown ✅ Build the right tech stack - because bad integrations = lost revenue If you're thinking about UBP, don't make the same mistakes others have. Instead, go check out the full recording and write-up on our website ⇒ www(.)revopscoop(.)com/learn/video-series #revops #revenueoperations #salesops #gtmops #alltheops #pricingstrategy #saasgrowth #CPQ #UBP
