Whether they’ve spent the morning putting together Food 4 Kids bags or sorting produce for a partner agency, Estelita and Philip Young always stick around at the end of their NTFB volunteer shift to hear how many meals their team packed. “It’s an incredible story that we tell people in our daily lives about the impact that you have,” says Estelita, who also volunteers with her husband at Metrocrest Services and Catholic Charities of Dallas [Official]. “We talk about the amount of people who go to sleep at night hungry and tell them you can see the impact you have at every shift here.” Read more about the Youngs here: https://ow.ly/VwWu50VA9QZ

The Feeding Texas network is strongly urging our U.S. House and Senate leaders to refrain from cutting SNAP or other critical nutrition programs. The North Texas Food Bank continues to see a surge in demand for food assistance, reaching levels not seen since the height of the pandemic. SNAP is our most effective tool in fighting hunger and is a smart investment in our local, state and national economies. Cutting benefits would undermine SNAP’s ability to prevent hunger, weaken our state’s economy, and threaten to derail Farm Bill negotiations.
