Our Girl Scouts "We Keep Water Flowing" program connects with troops across Girl Scouts of Central & Southern NJ to teach water education, including watershed protection and the water treatment process. Yesterday, we wrapped up a great session with Troop 67418! The girls were engaged and excited to learn, and they’re eager to share their new knowledge with others. It might be #AprilFoolsDay, but this is no joke - the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) 2025 Report Card for America’s Infrastructure reveals no improvement over the last four years in our nation's water and wastewater infrastructure. While these investments may seem stagnant across the board, we continue to invest over $500 million each year into our infrastructure across the state, while still keeping costs around a penny per gallon for its customers. I had a great time at the AWWA New Jersey Section conference last week and really enjoyed the increased focus on communications for water utilities this year!!! ⭐️ Joi Corrado joined me to present about how we use our annual water quality reports as an opportunity to build confidence in our tap with our customers at American Water and New Jersey American Water as well as some best practices for communicating them. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)'s #FixALeakWeek is March 17 through 23, 2025, and we're helping our customers find ways to identify and fix leaks in their homes. "With the ongoing drought in New Jersey and the arrival of spring this week – a season when water use typically increases – it’s more important than ever to find simple ways to conserve," - Ben Morris, VP of Operations. Additionally, we’re committed to finding and fixing our own leaks as well. "We’ve invested $14.5 million into our award-winning acoustic leak detection technology over the past five years, which allows us to ‘hear’ leaks underground, enhancing our ability to respond to them before they become larger issues.” - Don Shields, VP of Engineering.
