Day two at COABE in the books! It’s been another great day in Dallas, filled with insightful conversations and inspiring discussions. One highlight was this morning’s panel, where our own Cathy Tyler joined an important conversation about building different types of bridges for adult learners into the workforce. The work being done to create clear, accessible pathways for learners is truly making an impact! Looking forward to another day of learning, networking, and finding more ways to support workforce development. If you haven’t stopped by yet, visit the NCCER booth—we’d love to connect! #COABE2025 #AdultEducation #WorkforceDevelopment #CTE #NCCER Cathy Tyler Dr. Melissa Perkins, CFRE Gracieann Blankenship Boyd Worsham

I had a great time representing the Coalition on Adult Basic Education (COABE) while networking with employers and non-profits at Talent Forward in Washington DC last week. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation is leading the way to Advance an Engaged, Agile, and Resilient Workforce. Speakers such as the keynote Elizabeth OBrien, Senior VP, Hiring Our Heroes, had powerful messages about people who have faced barriers to employment and how receiving a job offer and being able to experience job stability are important and deeply meaningful moments in their lives. One quote from Vicki Greene, CEO and President, GED Testing Service, Pearson hit home the most: "The number one reason an adult learner does not take their GED is due to fear of failure...however, our learners also have GRIT, they just need a nudge finding it." At #COABE, we are here to not only support our learners and practitioners, but also to enhance the work of our many partners such as NCCER, Walmart, and so many others. #adulteducation Jeffrey Abramowitz Sharon Bonney Shaketta Thomas, Ed.S.
