About us
For more than 110 years, the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) has served as the nation's premier not-for-profit organization dedicated exclusively to fighting insurance fraud and crime. NICB provides intelligence-driven operations and collaborates with our members to drive fraud out of the insurance industry and adjacent companies, like rental car companies, auto auctions, vehicle finance companies and self-insured companies and organizations. We strive to protect and educate the public, partnering with law enforcement, government officials, and industry partners to create a fraud-adverse environment. We deliver value through NICB’s Core Pillars: *Intelligence, Analytics, and Operations: leveraging Big Data to identify emerging risks. *Education and Crime Prevention: empowering individuals and members through learning and development programs, continuing education, and public outreach. *Strategy, Policy, and Advocacy: advocating with key stakeholders in federal, state, and local governments, regulatory bodies, insurance commissions, media, and the public for sound public policy to combat insurance crime and fraud.

However, vehicle thefts are not yet back to pre-pandemic levels—a vehicle was stolen about every 38 seconds last year.
