Earlier this week, we honored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy—a vision of justice, equality, and opportunity for all. NELP is ready to meet the challenges of 2025, continuing to fight for real, lasting change. The road may look different than we imagined, but building a #GoodJobsEconomy for all is still our North Star. Read our President and CEO Rebecca Dixon’s blog, "MLK’s Dream vs. Trump-Era Policies: Advancing Workers’ Rights in 2025," to learn how we are pushing forward for systemic change and workers’ rights: https://lnkd.in/eiq5qy4N Together, we rise. ✊ #GoodJobsEconomy #1u #Resist #WorkersRights

“The greatest lesson from studying the #CivilRightsMovement is not that there is one right way to make change. Rather, it is summoning the will to take action after action — even when there is little sign that it will do any good — that does,” writes historian Jeanne Theoharis. Read her full piece on how #WeThePeople can join an American tradition of taking courageous action on behalf of #WorkersRights and #CivilRights against the aggressive racism of the #TrumpAdministration here: https://lnkd.in/eswxJvzX

57 years ago today, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated in #Memphis. His #CivilRights activism made clear occupational segregation pushed Black #workers into underpaid jobs, and the only way to win was fighting for the dignity and rights for ALL workers. These principles powered the #PoorPeoplesCampaign and the Sanitation Workers’ #strike. 55 years ago, NELP was created to help Black workers fight against discrimination by enforcing Title VII of the #CivilRightsAct. I like helping the public.” From retraining her fellow veterans to helping postal service retirees receive health care benefits as part of her role within the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), former federal worker Shernice Mundell is dedicated to helping others. In her #WorkerVoices story, she recounts the meeting where she and her colleagues were fired summarily via video link, and how the experience has reignited her call to activism. “If any workers are still holding on to the notion that #DonaldTrump is pro-worker or pro-union, his move last week to terminate #union bargaining rights for 1 million #FederalWorkers should disabuse them of that notion.” Steven Greenhouse details the #TrumpAdministration’s ongoing full-scale assault on #workers in The Guardian: https://lnkd.in/eKw4auAP #CollectiveBargaining #1u #UnionStrong #RiseUp
