We’re committed to helping all #OlderAdults age well and stay healthy!    Earlier today, we met with members of Congress on Capitol Hill to advocate for #Medicare coverage of anti-obesity medications. Thank you for taking the time to speak with us about this important issue! This would give older Americans access to the full range of obesity treatments—in addition to regular physical activity and #HealthyEating.   #Obesity was designated a chronic disease by the American Medical Association in 2013, and Medicare currently covers treatment for other chronic diseases, like heart disease and cancer.   Adding Medicare coverage for anti-obesity medications, approved by the FDA, would help people stay healthy, reduce the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes, and save an estimated $175 billion in the first 10 years! Many of us experience loneliness, which can negatively affect our health. But there’s good news! Maintaining social connections as we age can help us #StayHealthy and prevent loneliness.
