On Wednesday, NAMI Chicago and the Young Invincibles gathered in Springfield with students and legislative leaders, including Representative La Shawn K. Ford and Representative Lindsey LaPointe advocating to fully funding the Mental Health Early Action on Campus Act at $23.5 million. Our COO at NAMI Chicago, Jen McGowan-Tomke, said: “Far too many students are struggling with their mental health, experiencing symptoms but not receiving support until they’re in crisis." The Act is a vital solution to tackle the mental health crisis impacting students today and to support their emotional, physical, and financial well-being.
