Wildfires are getting faster, more intense, and harder to contain. The need for near-real-time data has never been greater—and Via Satellite recently highlighted how Muon Space and Earth Fire Alliance are stepping up to meet this challenge. Our FireSat Constellation is designed to deliver wildfire updates quickly, providing critical insights when every minute counts. As our CEO and co-founder Jonny Dyer explains, “They continuously collect data over land areas, and downlink products within minutes via a hybrid network of commercial and dedicated ground stations.” The potential impact? A recent report from Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation found that reducing response times by just 15 minutes could lower the frequency of large uncontained fires by up to seven percent. Our team is incredibly proud to be working to build the FireSat constellation in partnership with Earth Fire Alliance. FireSat represents the first of the next generation of our Halo™ technology stack with advancements in MuSat, MuCore and MuOs providing increased power, data downlink and maneuverability.  'We are uniquely able to develop, deploy, and operate constellations of satellites equipped with cutting-edge sensors that deliver unprecedented data to critical stakeholders,' says Dyer. It’s incredible to see this groundbreaking technology gain momentum as we work alongside our amazing partners—Google Research, Earth Fire Alliance, and Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation — to combat the escalating wildfire crisis. With our cutting-edge six-channel multispectral infrared instrument, FireSat will detect wildfires as small as a swimming pool, provide global coverage every 15-20 minutes, and give first responders near real-time intelligence they need to act fast.
