“The Cadillac Area YMCA is deeply grateful for the generous support of Munson Healthcare for our Teen Impact program. This partnership empowers local youth to overcome challenges, build essential life skills, and take confident steps toward a brighter, more positive future.”—Mike Kelso, Executive Director and CEO, Cadillac Area YMCA. This month, we are so thankful for the chance to support the Cadillac Area YMCA, a special community fixture for two decades and counting. Munson's gift will specifically support the Y Teen Impact program, which helps at-risk youth ages 13–15 build critical life skills, including stress management, teamwork, conflict resolution, and fostering healthy relationships. The program’s teens meet twice weekly at the Y, where they participate in small group discussions, hear from guest speakers, engage in experiential learning, and benefit from one-on-one mentorship. This contribution highlights our commitment to supporting our local communities as well as promoting the health and wellness of our youth. It was a pleasure to join Sara Lee Frozen Bakery’s “Sara Lee Cares” event this past Saturday. Many wonderful community service organizations participated in the free family event in Traverse City, and we loved seeing the smiles on kids’ faces as they played with medical tools and dressed up as future healthcare heroes!

When we encounter stress, we can start to experience both physical and mental symptoms. We might feel our blood pressure start to rise, our palms or face might sweat, and we may have trouble concentrating. We might get an uneasy feeling in our stomach and even experience some muscle tension. While these symptoms can be a temporary reaction, long-term effects of chronic stress can be more serious. Learn more on the blog at https://lnkd.in/gA3XWXn4 and talk to your primary care provider if you're concerned about how stress is impacting your life.

“I’ve always had a love for healthcare. I had acute lymphoblastic leukemia as a small child, so I grew close with the doctors and nurses who cared for me and developed a love for healthcare and nursing at a young age. It was important to me to provide the same care for my patients that my family and I had received. I am honored to care for the patients who come through our doors – or in my case, connect via telehealth. I love my current role as a Digital Health Nurse because I help patients from the comfort of their homes. I feel like I can be a guide for them as they navigate health challenges. We help with everything from small care needs to emergency care. I really enjoy the challenge of thinking quickly and choosing the next best steps for patients.” —Katie W., BSN, RN, Digital Health Read more at https://lnkd.in/gHv6mir2.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month – a poignant reminder that many children don’t have a safe and nurturing environment to call home. Community efforts play an instrumental role in supporting our families and protecting our children. Today, we are honored to announce a contribution of $5,000 to Lakeshore Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) in Manistee. This donation aims to enhance the health, safety, and wellbeing of local children and families, helping to ensure they receive the care and protection they deserve. Since 2009, Lakeshore CAC has provided a safe, supportive environment for children and families affected by abuse. The center's multidisciplinary team offers coordinated care, including no-cost mental health counseling for child survivors. Programs like Safety Matters help children disclose abuse and educate adults on recognizing and reporting it. Munson’s contribution will expand Lakeshore CAC’s essential services, like therapy and prevention programs.
