The Ms. Foundation for Women builds women’s collective power in the U.S. to advance equity and justice for all.

About us

The Ms. Foundation for Women is the leading national social justice foundation devoted to securing rights, equality and justice for women. The Ms. Foundation for Women fights to eliminate barriers for all women. We fight to keep lawmakers and public figures in check, to protect and fortify our fragile successes, and to secure the same opportunities for all women in the US. We especially focus on those whose voices are muted because of their economic realities and everyday challenges. Because to secure a better future for ourselves, our families, our communities, this is a fight we can't afford to lose. At the Ms. Foundation, we work to bring attention to the real challenges facing women, especially women of color and low-income women, living in poverty, working paycheck to paycheck or both. We speak out on the issues, tirelessly advocate for national and statewide policy change that will address these challenges, and support more than 100 organizations throughout the country that are working for change on a grassroots level.

  • It's #TransDayofVisibility! 🏳️⚧️💖 We're closing out #WomensHistoryMonth by recognizing and celebrating the incredible trans folks who came before us. The trans community has played an essential role in the fight for gender equity for generations. Trans folks aren't going anywhere—despite political attacks, violence, and dehumanizing rhetoric. Trans people have always existed, and always will. Period.

  • Ms. Foundation grantee partners like IGNITE National are building women's political power across the nation. IGNITE encourages young people to become politically engaged and leverage their unique experiences and perspectives to shape policies that benefit their communities. Since 2010, they have trained over 40,000 young women and girls to discover and flex their political power. We believe those closest to the problem hold the solutions. By investing in their expertise, we help build a safe and just democracy for future generations. #WomensHistoryMonth

  • Continuing #WomensHistoryMonth by celebrating our political power! 🗳 Throughout history, women have developed community-based, innovative solutions that improve people’s lives. These solutions have the power to trickle up into policy and ensure that women's voices are reflected in laws and decisions at local, state, and national levels. Leaders like Congresswoman Lateefah Simon are transforming our democracy to create a safe and just future for all. Speech from the 2024 Women of Vision Awards, where Rep. Lateefah Simon was honored with the Marie C. Wilson award.

  • Ten years ago, we launched #MyFeminismIs, a campaign that explored the broad, intersectional definitions of feminism. Featuring conversations with activists, advocates, philanthropic leaders, and organizers, #MyFeminismIs shifted our understanding of the concept and underscored the importance of ensuring everyone has a seat at the table.
