⚡ ⚡ ⚡ BYOP (bring your own power) - this was a prevailing theme at the Microgrid Knowledge Conference this week. With the rising demand for electricity placing an unbearable strain on our grid, microgrids provide increased reliability and resilience when electric utilities are unable to deliver. In addition, energy access microgrids can deliver life changing impact to individuals and communities they serve. Over the past three days, we had the opportunity to share our own lessons learned advancing energy access, connect with our partners, and engage in meaningful dialogue with fellow industry leaders on how to move the industry forward. As always, thank you to the Microgrid Knowledge team for bringing everyone together! It was great to represent Mead & Hunt at this year's Microgrid Knowledge conference in Dallas, TX. It was an honor to be able to speak about our Middleton project where Mead & Hunt collaborated with Faith EnTech on a biogas-to-RNG facility that was powered by an onsite microgrid. The project implemented various technologies including anaerobic digestion, biogas pretreatment and upgrading, ground and roof mounted solar PV, battery storage, and EV charging for electric trucks that transport the product gas 20 miles via virtual pipeline to the natural gas injection point at the Dane County landfill. The project is a great example of how multiple technologies can work together to create a cohesive solution. The microgrid (which was modeled and implemented by Faith EnTech) helped lower the CI score of the fuel increasing its value for the California LCFS market. A truly fascinating project that provides an example of how microgrids and distributed generation can play a vital role with future RNG projects. #MeadHunt #MGKConference #MGK25 #Microgrid2025 #MeadHunt #EPC #Engineering #Construction #DesignBuild #NetZero #CleanEnergy #DistributedEnergy #MicrogridKnowledge

The Microgrid Knowledge Conference is underway this week, and energy leaders will be on hand to explore the future of resilient, mission-critical power through real-world insights, cutting-edge tech, and expert-led discussions on #microgrids, #DERs, and #virtualpowerplants. If you’re attending, be sure to catch Allan Schurr, PE's general session on the value of onsite #powergeneration when extreme weather causes unplanned outages. 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆: 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 Thursday, April 17 | 8:00-9:00 am CST Along with Jaclyn Whiteman from Duke Energy Corporation and Mason Butler IV, P.E. from CenterPoint Energy, the session will dig deeper into the impact of year-round severe weather on critical infrastructure, highlighting how reliable backup power from natural gas microgrids can provide operational continuity and help reduce grid strain during storms and temperature-related power shortfalls. And with the start of #hurricane season right around the corner, it’s a timely topic for anyone who needs to make sustainable resiliency part of their emergency response plan right now. You can find more information on Allan’s session and arrange a time to meet with him at #MGK25 here 👉 https://bit.ly/4jg6h7a

The Demand Side. ✅ Power that works better for You. ✅ Welcome to the Energy Future. ✴️ “The demand side is where we’ve got to fix the issue, and that’s with microgrids and predictive AI for the end-user." James Richmond, CEO e2Companies. https://lnkd.in/ggi47X6d The opening keynote at Microgrid Knowledge ushered in a new era of energy. One that is driven by customer demand, not by supply-side and the status quo. A new era of technology that lowers the cost of electricity, drives #Efficiency for the End-user, and delivers the power of #EnergyChoice for customers. #VirtualUtility #R3Di #Grove365 #Keyfive #EnergyTransition #EnergyManagement #Microgrids #DataCenters #GreaterGrid

As my team here at Electric Power Engineers knows, I have been very focused (some would say obsessed, but in a good way!) on microgrids and how they are not just an option for overcoming many of our current and growing electric industry challenges, but can be the foundation of a scalable system to ensure our grid can deliver resilient, reliable, sustainable, and affordable electricity for everyone across the globe. So, when invited to keynote the Microgrid Knowledge Conference next week in Dallas, I immediately agreed. I’ll discuss all things microgrids and why it is critical to be intentional about how we navigate towards decentralized and more resilient electric systems. I look forward to seeing you there! #Microgrids #Power #PowerSystems #ReliablePower #DataCenters
