Why do companies hire solely based on cognitive ability and affective feelings? Genuinely, I want to know. Maybe I'm wrong? If you have hired someone in the past 12 months, can you tell me how the interview process went and how that employee has worked out thus far? Let me know in the comments below! #hiring

I'm currently reading a book called The Growth Leader by Scott Edinger. While having breakfast the other day and reading a new chapter, I came across a great quote. "Get the right people on the bus. The idea is that if you focus on "first who then what," no matter what chaos or uncertainty your business faces, no matter the challenges, you'll be facing it with the right people in the right seats." I believe this wholeheartedly. When your focus in hiring is on: The Cognitive Mind (skills, abilities, experience, etc.) The Affective Mind (wants, desires, motivations, emotions) You aren't guaranteeing you're getting the right people on the bus. You must, and I must stress this, look at the 3rd part of the mind, The Conative Part of the Mind. If you don't understand a candidate's Instinctual Tendencies, you are essentially making a gamble that they are the right hire. Get the right people on the bus, then watch your business grow.

🎉 Big News! 🎉 After much thought and reflection, I’ve decided to take a step back from coaching and fully commit to chasing my true dream of making it to the PGA Tour! 🏌️♂️⛳ Over the years, I’ve coached countless professionals on how to visualize success, develop discipline, and embrace long-term goals. Now it’s time to put my own advice to the test. I’m trading in the boardroom for the fairway, swapping networking events for practice rounds, and replacing my laptop with a trusty 7-iron. The plan? ✅ 6 hours of range work daily ✅ Mental conditioning with visualization exercises (got that part covered 😉) ✅ Mastering the art of getting up and down from anywhere Sure, I might be a few years behind the curve, but hey, Phil won a major at 50! I’ve got time! To everyone who’s been part of my journey with MGM Coaching, The College Confidence Coach, and Terzo Development, I can’t thank you enough. Your support means everything, and I’m excited to see where this new adventure takes me. Oh, and if you’ve read this far… April Fools! 😎🎉⛳ #AprilFools #PGADreams #AlwaysLearning #MGMCoaching

Have you ever wanted to hear what a Conative Interpretation may sound like? Do you even know what "Conation" is? Have you ever been curious why doing certain things makes you upset, tired, or just downright pissed? We answer all these questions on today's episode with Joe Piehler the Co-Founder of Positive Approach Press here in Buffalo, NY! Joe was brave enough to let us give his Conative Interpretation live on the show, and let me tell you, we had a blast doing so. Tune in and let us know what you think! I’m a full believer in celebrating your wins. Personal. Professional. Whatever they may be. I need to celebrate Evan Giokas today. At Halloween last year he decided to go on a true journey of taking back his health to become happier and healthier. Last week, we took some new company photos to celebrate the journey. Max Montante thank you for the photos. Evan, thank you for the inspiration. If you’re out there thinking to yourself: - How’d he do it? - How does he feel? - I need to make a change myself Then let’s talk. I know Evan would love to share his journey with you. #goals #journey #health #wins #celebrate

Money is something we all want and need. I don't mean to be blunt, but it's true. However, if you only network because you think you'll make money from your connections, you're doing it wrong. The focus needs to be on the relationship and the hopeful outcomes. If you build strong relationships and create great connections, money will follow. Don't let the green blind you!

Ego, while not always a bad thing in business, can also be a massive detriment to you when meeting others. Thinking you're better than others is not a great way to build a connection. Check your ego at the door. Grab a coffee. ☕ Get to know someone for who they are. #connections #ego #networking #mgmcoaching #coffee

Networking is: - Lame - Dumb - Stupid - Difficult - Stuffy - Impossible - Insert any other negative word WRONG Networking Should Be: - Fun - Enjoyable - Value Added - Easy - Exciting - Community Building Recently, I attended my first meat raffle with my wife and some friends. Some we knew. Some we met for the first time. Regardless, we enjoyed ourselves, had fun, made new connections, and built up our networks. 🚨 PSA TO EVERYONE WHO THINKS NETWORKING STINKS... 🚨 The smiles on our faces say otherwise 😀

It’s Monday, so you know what that means… Another episode of The MGM Show! Today, an absolute beauty of a guest, Jamie Miller, CEPA, who is currently serving as New York State Golf Association President on top of being a Financial Advisor at UBS. I’ve gotten to know Jamie over the last several years through the Buffalo Golf Community. While Jamie is an incredible golfer, he is much, much more than that. Tune in as we talk: - Being told to be something you’re not - Building the proper team - Leaning into your Conative Strengths and Needs - Golf (naturally) - Raising $1.7M for Oishei Children’s Hospital - Being President of the New York State Golf Association - And much, much more Links are below in the comments! For this episode, I ask for a favor. ♻️ Send the episode to someone who you think feels like they need to be someone they’re not. Often times we tell ourselves we must do something because that’s how others do it. 💡The truth of the matter is this: If you’re forcing yourself to do something, or be something you’re not, you’re only hurting yourself. Let’s all help someone out today. Cheers! MGM Coaching Evan Giokas HANSA workspace - As always, thank you for the incredible space!
