Kev, a 2-year-old Dachshund presented for evaluation of hyphema in the right eye. After diagnostics were ran, bloodwork found that Kev had low red blood platelets which raised concerns for immune-mediated thrombocytopenia. The inability to clot is what was found most likely to cause bleeding inside of the eye, and hospitalization was recommended. Kev was hospitalized for 6 days to help raise red blood cell count production and raise platelet count. Kev was later released to go home and continue care as needed.
