Can real-time alerts improve antibiotic prescribing? New research says yes. Two large NIH-funded studies across 92 hospitals found that targeted electronic alerts improved appropriate antibiotic use by 35% for abdominal infections and 28% for skin/soft tissue infections. The alerts use real-time EHR and hospital data to recommend narrower-spectrum antibiotics, supporting stronger antibiotic stewardship and reducing unnecessary broad-spectrum use. Led by researchers at UC Irvine School of Medicine, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute & HCA Healthcare, the findings were published in JAMA Surgery & JAMA Internal Medicine. 📰 Full article: https://hubs.li/Q03g_Lxy0 #MedicalEconomics #HealthTech #EHR #ClinicalInnovation

These include: 🔹 Broadband access grants 🔹 Union-backed insurance subsidies 🔹 Loan repayment and diversity initiatives CMS says that these creative financing mechanisms misalign with Medicaid's core mission and allow federal dollars to replace state spending. What this means for states, providers, and budgets: https://hubs.li/Q03g_CsX0 #MedicalEconomics #Medicaid #HealthPolicy #CMS
