On March 18th Maryland MEP hosted the second 2025 Make It In Maryland Tour Talk at the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Webster Outlying Field (WOLF) in St. Marys County. NAWCAD WOLF provides rapid, in-house engineering solutions for the warfighter, offering development, integration, installation, and sustainment support. With active runways, extensive lab space, and an advanced electromagnetic testing environment, it delivers high-quality, cost-effective solutions. During the event, Director of Operations Isreal Jordan gave an in-depth presentation on NAWCAD WOLF’s unique approach. Attendees toured two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and had the opportunity to connect with Acquisition Specialist, Melissa Lutz to explore collaboration opportunities! Biotech Boot Camp Graduate Spotlight: Charles Hart After months of applying for positions in the biotech industry without success, Charles joined the Biotech Boot Camp in January 2025 to explore new opportunities. With experience across multiple industries, he was seeking a career that offered continuous learning, personal growth, and long-term stability. Through the Boot Camp, Charles gained the skills and knowledge needed to break into the biotech field. Upon graduating and completing interviews, he received multiple job offers and is now proud to have accepted a position at AstraZeneca. Congratulations, Charles, on this exciting new chapter! Biotech Boot Camp Graduate Spotlight: August R. Buchhalter! Meet August Buchhalter, a recent graduate of the 2025 Biotech Boot Camp whose journey is nothing short of inspiring! With nearly 20 years of experience in public health consulting as a Scientist, Director of Abuse-Deterrent Drug Products, and Director of Abuse Potential Assessment, August found himself facing an unexpected career shift when his position was eliminated in 2024. After 10 months of unemployment and only one interview opportunity, August knew he needed a new path. Thanks to Frederick County Workforce Services, August discovered the Biotech Boot Camp—and the rest is history. After successfully completing the program, he landed nine interviews within a week and has just started his new role as a Biorepository Technician at Precision For Medicine! August’s perseverance, expertise, and positive attitude played a major role in his success, and we couldn’t be more excited for his future in the biotech industry. We know August will have a very successful career and we wish him the best!
