Human Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI)'s recent report, "The Role of Companion Animals for Improved Mental Health," highlights insights on the mental health challenges uniquely faced by veterinary professionals and the critical support veterinary social workers provide to pet caregivers. This World Social Work Day, we're taking a moment to recognize the important role social workers play in veterinary medicine. These invaluable team members provide critical guidance related to stress management, compassion fatigue, conflict management, communication, and other challenges that may impact their mental health and wellbeing. To support our Associates and clients, Mars Veterinary Health employs a growing network of 20+ in-house licensed veterinary social workers across our Banfield Pet Hospital, BluePearl Pet Hospital, and VCA Animal Hospitals clinics—one of the most extensive social work programs in the veterinary industry. You can read HABRI's report here: https://lnkd.in/gtCY4sdp and learn more about the impact our social workers are making in the following Q&A with Lisa Stewart-Brown, who leads our mental health & wellbeing programs globally. https://lnkd.in/gQTjEndU #WorldSocialWorkDay #SocialWorkDay #WSWD2025 #veterinarymedicine

Today, it became available as a free resource for the profession, making it easier for veterinarians interested in giving back to their local communities to become VORs, so pets receive the care they need while awaiting adoption.
