Designers and scientists were in a race against time to turn an empty office building in Dallas into a 25,000-square-foot anatomical pathology laboratory for Fulgent Genetics. Over a hectic few months, the integrated team brought Fulgent’s vision to life, improving workflows and the quality of life for staff. “We felt like a team at the end,” says Fulgent VP Doreen Ng. https://lnkd.in/eqNhBu-7 #changinglivesbydesign #labdesign #officetolab #adaptivereuse #lifescience #biotech #DFW #Dallas

Concluding our #EarthDay celebration, Wimberley Village’s new library expansion helps the community confront regional water challenges. Working with an impassioned group of local stakeholders, designers used the state’s fledgling One Water initiative as a framework to weave water stewardship into everyday life. #changinglivesbydesign #earthday2025 #community #designforequitablecommunities #librarydesign #landscapearchitecture #civilengineering #architecture #onewater #water #designforwater #designforecosystems #designforresources #designforchange

Our #EarthDay celebration continues with Lincoln Property Company’s Irvine office. An integrated design team worked with the company’s leaders and staff to turn a 40-year-old, nondescript office building into a flexible, net zero-energy headquarters for the real estate company. Designers reused as much as possible — including the structure, HVAC systems, furniture and art — while adding indoor-outdoor connections and solar power. The result avoided significant embodied carbon and operates emissions-free. #changinglivesbydesign #performance #earthday2025 #netzero #embodiedcarbon #decarbonization #reuse #workplace #sustainabledesign #CRE #commercialrealestate

Continuing with our #EarthDay celebration, we look at a project in San Diego that rethinks housing for formerly homeless individuals by making well-being the foundation of the design. Five stories of supportive housing rise from an expansive amenity deck designed to help residents build community, while three ground-floor clinics address mental and physical health needs. #changinglivesbydesign #earthday2025 #housing #mixeduse #sustainabledesign #supportivehousing #designforwellbeing #wellness #healthcaredesign #residential #publicimpactdesign

In honor of #EarthDay, we're sharing examples of designers, clients and communities coming together to create projects that make an impact on people and the planet. First, we’re spotlighting TIDE Academy, a public high school on a former industrial site that offers a blend of indoor-outdoor environments to support inquiry-based learning and prepare students for careers in technology, engineering and the arts. #changinglivesbydesign #earthday2025 #sustainabledesign #experience #k12 #design #architecture #engineering #STEM #STEAM
