Over the past few days, our talent acquisition team has been at the AONL conference in Boston, meeting some extraordinary nurse leaders. We were thrilled to have our CNO, Adam Meier from The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus, visit our booth and share with nurse leaders why they should join our team. If you couldn't attend the event but are interested in leadership positions with us, we encourage you to apply. We have opportunities in Kansas, Idaho, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. This morning Lovelace Health System hospitals across the city, and in Roswell, NM, gathered along with UNM and Presbyterian, for a special moment of reflection to honor those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s been 5 years since we saw our first cases in New Mexico and many of us can remember the impact it had on us, our families and our loved ones. We recognize that our healthcare workers were hit especially hard. While the country stayed home to avoid spreading the illness, our staff came to work day in and day out to care for our community, which desperately needed us. Today, we honored our healthcare workers, our community and each other with a moment of silence.

March is International Women’s Month to celebrate women’s achievements, especially when they conquer personal and professional obstacles to reach milestones. Fortunately, we find examples of these achievements in our own health system – women who inspire and guide us as we work together to care for our communities. Today, we're spotlighting Meghann Hutchison, market chief financial officer. Meghann learned the valuable lesson of ‘never give up’ when she survived and thrived after childhood cancer. In college, she obtained two degrees in three years while working in restaurants seven days a week. Though she was once told that she wouldn’t make it as a chief financial officer, she not only succeeded and then became the regional CFO within five years. Accompanying her relentless drive is a motivation we all share – watching our patients go home in better health than when they arrived.
