Today, we honor the memory of Paulo Bustamante and the honorable decision of his family. Their selfless act of tissue donation, inspired by Paulo's own generous nature, is a powerful expression of love and compassion. We are immensely appreciative of their gift, which brings hope and healing to others in Paulo's name. #HonorableAct #LastingImpact #TissueDonationAwareness

LiveOnNY was humbled by the generosity and community-driven commitment of Joel Walkowski, MBA. Joel has founded a non-profit that will support the families of Organ Donor Heroes through the LiveOnNY Foundation. He hosts an incredible basketball tournament in Brooklyn called ‘The Big Walkowski’ and in 2024, this community event raised funds in honor of his friend and organ donor hero Kenny DeForest, who saved 5 people’s lives with his gifts of life. On April 11th, Joel received ‘The LiveOnNY Donor Hero Medal’, the organization's highest honor that can be given to a person, from President & CEO Leonard Achan. It was a privilege to share the work that we do at #LiveOnNY and introduce Joel to our staff as well as transplant recipients and donor families who shared their inspiring stories. Joel’s advocacy provides important public education and awareness to the Community and his generosity will help families in need. Because of Joel’s dedication in memory of Kenny, more lives will be saved and the legacy of donor heroes will live on! The next basketball tournament will be on September 6, 2025. Save the date and come support the event! More info to come as the date gets closer. #donorchampion #givingback #philanthropy #foundation #community #nonprofit #donate #fundraising #donorhero #organdonationsaveslives #liveonnyfoundation #lifepassiton

In todays Crain's New York Business print edition, the front page story is - "Organ Donations Rise as LiveOnNY Strategy Soars - Since 2021, the nonprofits donors and revenue have nearly doubled" LiveOnNY's board approved strategic plan (2022-2024) was executed and over the last few years, Organ donation, staffing and revenue has increased. All reinvested back into the mission year over year. This trifecta (increase lives saved, increase staff, and increase revenue) is unusual in the healthcare community in NYC. This story, while written for the business audience speaks to our turnaround. We still have a lot of work to do as we have started the next 3-year plan. This is impossible without the Grace of the NYC Metro regions organ donors and especially donor families who say ‘yes’ to donation in their toughest moments. Over 80 percent of the time, it’s families who say yes in the NY metro region as less than 20 percent of potential donors in the hospitals are registered organ donors. Please consider saying yes for yourself! Our LiveOnNY staff, local #hospitals and the national #transplant community continue to learn together and lean in as we continue to reinvest in LiveOnNYs mission. #donatelife #organdonation #transplant #healthcare #nursing #criticalcare #physicians #transformation #donorheroes #healthequity #Grace #HealthcareTransformation

Rainy day with my LiveOnNY hoodie – but every day is donor day! Our partner, LiveOnNY, is the number one OPO for Black organ donation in the nation with an impact of nearly 60% of those life-saving gifts for those in the same ethnic group as the donor. Our executive chairman, Al B. Sure! is a joint author on legislation around organ donation in Texas and we are creating a prototype around the country. Watch us work!
