We couldn’t agree more and applaud the recommendation from more than 50 researchers to create a global observing network of uncrewed surface vehicles (USVs). Uncrewed systems, such as the Wave Glider, are ideal platforms for sustained data collection, remote operations, and reliable data delivery for a wide range of oceanographic and atmospheric variables. “The authors argue that creating a global USV observation network would significantly enhance humanity’s ability to forecast severe weather events, improve climate models, monitor carbon dioxide uptake by the oceans and support interdisciplinary marine research.” Industry is ready to deliver autonomous systems at scale today. #UNOceanDecade #oceanobs #GOOS #USV #autonomy https://lnkd.in/gcVgC9X8

Critical capability at a critical moment. Liquid Robotics is proud to be working with HydroNet to rapidly integrate and field this cutting-edge technology! #Hydronet #LiquidRobotics #ConnectedIntelligence #UnderwaterNetworking #AI #OceanTech #MeshNetworking #DigitalOcean #WaveGlider #SmartOceans #DigitalTwin #DARPA #MIT #marineautonomylab
Bringing Connected Intelligence Underwater: Hydronet and Liquid Robotics Integration Demo We’re thrilled to announce a groundbreaking integration between HydroNet’s AI-powered underwater mesh networking and Liquid Robotics' Wave Glider—pushing the boundaries of autonomous ocean systems and intelligent underwater sensing. This integration successfully created a multi-kilometer adaptive mesh network between three Wave Gliders and an MIT SeaBeaver II UUV, running the MIT MOOS-IvP open-source autonomy stack. The devices were all equipped with the Hydronet software-defined modem and edge platform (SDME), enabling high-performance underwater communication and distributed intelligence. Hydronet’s HydroMesh technology facilitated remote command, control, and telemetry across all four vehicles, relaying data through LEO satellites via Starlink. The Hydronet Dashboard provided a real-time monitoring, visualization, and mission command interface. Bridging the Physical and Digital Ocean By seamlessly integrating autonomous systems across the underwater, surface, and space-based networks, this demonstration showcases the future of resilient, AI-driven maritime operations—where distributed sensing, adaptive networking, and real-time intelligence power the next generation of ocean exploration and defense. 🔹 Autonomy & Connectivity ✅ Persistent Connectivity – Bridging the gap between surface and subsea networks to enable seamless multi-modal command and control. ✅ Enhanced Autonomy – Supporting smarter UUV operations with real-time, adaptive networking. ✅ Bridging ocean, surface, and terrestrial networks – Unlocking new possibilities for autonomous systems. 🔹 Data-Driven Intelligence ✅ Real-Time Underwater Sensing & Data Collection – Enabling continuous monitoring of ocean conditions, marine life, and subsea infrastructure. ✅ AI-Powered Distributed Sensing – Transforming vast amounts of collected data into actionable insights through edge AI and cloud analytics. ✅ Modeling the Physical World – Creating high-resolution, dynamic digital twins of underwater environments to drive smarter decisions in defense, energy, and environmental applications. By combining advanced AI, adaptive networking, and distributed sensing, we are revolutionizing how we see, understand, and interact with the underwater world. This is just the beginning—stay tuned as we push the boundaries of connected intelligence below the water surface. #ConnectedIntelligence #UnderwaterNetworking #AI #OceanTech #MeshNetworking #DigitalOcean #WaveGlider #SmartOceans #DigitalTwin #DARPA #LiquidRobotics #Hydronet #MIT #marineautonomylab

Let’s zoom in on the halfway mark of the NOAA Fisheries Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center (PIFSC) Integrated Ecosystem Assessment (IEA) data collection. Here are three mission facts: ❇️ We are nearing the turnaround point at Niʻihau for this state-wide survey in Hawaiʻi; all Wave Gliders will soon be turning to the leeward sides of the “Main 8” to complete the mission. ❇️ Ocean data collection can be unpredictable. When one of the oceanographic sensors showed signs of inconsistent data sampling (yellow track), our team launched a backup Wave Glider (red) with a new set of sensors to spring into action and take over. Uncrewed systems are flexible, which allows for fast turnaround times in executing “Plan B”. ❇️ What’s not visible in the map is that each Wave Glider collects data at the surface, while also conducting 5-10 automated daily casts to collect data in depths of 150m. Learn more about the goals of this NOAA mission and how Wave Gliders are assisting NOAA scientists: https://lnkd.in/gXjnrmHj
