💙💚 In celebration of April’s National #DonateLife Month, Hennepin Healthcare, in partnership with LifeSource and Lions Gift of Sight held a special flag raising ceremony honoring donor families and recipients. Today the Donate Life flag was raised outside of our Purple Building and will remain for the entire month to honor and recognize donors who have given the gift of life. This year, we are grateful to have living kidney donor Phillip Terrill and his recipient wife, Cherida Terrill raise the flag. This flag reminds us that love lives on in the legacy of the donor, healing for their family, and new life and second chances for the recipients 💙💚

The spring snowstorm couldn’t stop us from honoring the gift of life. Last week, we held a flag-raising ceremony in recognition of Donate Life Month. This event celebrates organ, eye, and tissue donors and recipients, and the power of donation in our community. We were joined by Barb from LifeSource, who shared inspiring local insights: -57% of Wadena County residents are registered donors -Over the past 10 years, 17 tissue donors from Astera Health have enhanced or saved the lives of more than 2,500 people Please consider registering to be an organ donor today: https://bit.ly/4afMxw5 #DonateLifeMonth #OrganDonation #GiveLife #HealthcareHeroes LifeSource

  • To celebrate Donate Life Month, we invite you to join us for a "Tour of Advocacy". One of the most powerful ways to encourage action is through sharing stories and lived experiences. We are fortunate to have many inspiring individuals in our community helping raise awareness for organ donation. So, throughout the month, we are excited to take you on a "tour" of what that looks like for some of our advocates! Let's kick it off with Melanie, who will tell you a little bit about how she chooses to advocate and why it's so important to her. In the comments, tell (or show) how you choose to advocate or what advocacy means to you! #Advocate #NDLM #SaveLives #OrganDonation

  • Making donation happen takes an entire network of people. The care teams in the hospital that support families as their loved one becomes a donor, are nothing short of amazing. And, although they may not ever see that family again, they will always be remembered as an important part of the story when their loved one's last act on earth was to save someone else's life. To all of our healthcare heroes, thank you for all that you do to make miracles happen. This one is for you 🧡 💙 #DonateLife #SaveLives #NDLM #OrganDonation
