About us
LA2050 is a community-guided initiative driving and tracking progress toward a shared vision for the future of Los Angeles. With the LA community, we developed five broad, aspirational goals to make LA the best place to learn, create, play, connect, and live. LA2050 deploys financial, human, and social capital to build a better future--a future for Angelenos, shaped by Angelenos. We accomplish this through research and reporting, tracking progress on the indicators and goals, highlighting civic leaders and organizations around the region, and activating Angelenos to be a part of shaping the future. LA2050 is an initiative of and incubated by the Goldhirsh Foundation.

We are so excited to welcome our inaugural cohort of LA2050 Youth Ambassador Leaders 🌟 This 28-person group is spreading the word about voting in the 2025 LA2050 Grants Challenge, and will take on additional responsibilities including: mentoring peers, evaluating grant applications, and completing a group project. They represent more than 20 different communities across LA County, including West Hills, Altadena, and Compton. This year, we introduced a two-tiered model for our Youth Ambassador program. Young Angelenos (ages 14 - 24) applied to be a member of our General Cohort or our new Leadership Council. We cannot wait to see what this year's LA2050 Youth Ambassadors accomplish throughout the Grants Challenge and beyond! We’ll be posting more about them in the months ahead. 🩵 https://lnkd.in/gv6ks48b

Earlier this month, LA2050, an initiative of the Goldhirsh Foundation, hosted Hands-On AI Training for Nonprofits, an interactive seminar that equipped nonprofit and social impact professionals with practical AI skills to enhance their work. The session, held on March 12th at LA Más Headquarters, was led by Jen García, AI executive in residence at the Goldhirsh Foundation. With a focus on real-world applications, García guided participants through the use of AI tools for research, impact measurement, data analysis, donor engagement, and more. Throughout the workshop, attendees engaged in hands-on exercises, learning how to train a marketing-focus GPT using their own data. The training concluded with a breakout discussion exploring innovative AI applications in the nonprofit sector, along with a demo of the newest tools for research and agentic task completion. Bringing these ideas to life, we created a space for nonprofit leaders to explore how AI can streamline workflows and amplify impact. This year, 100+ social impact organizations and political offices joined on to spread the word about this year’s #LA2050GrantsChallenge in order to ensure it’s representative of all Angelenos. Team LA2050 has enjoyed seeing Outreach Partners’ social media posts, social interactions, and newsletter mentions over the last few weeks. Today, we’re spotlighting one of the most innovative approaches we’ve seen to engage voters. Bridge The Digital Divide, a 2024 #CREATE grantee, empowered older adults in its community to engage in LA2050 Grants Challenge voting. The organization added a shortcut on its website, allowing its students to practice filling out an online form while casting their vote. This approach not only encouraged new voters but also promoted digital equity and inclusion! The image above features students from Bridge The Digital Divide’s Westchester Senior Center Smartphone Skills Class, Leonard Y. and Les D. Don’t forget! Voting is open at https://lnkd.in/g6z4kUeE. It’s open to all ages, available in 12+ languages, and takes less than five minutes.

We are so excited to welcome our fourth LA2050 Youth Ambassador Cohort! 🩵 This year’s group includes 330 Angelenos between ages 14 and 24, representing more than 145 different communities across Los Angeles County. They are middle and high school students, college students, and young professionals with a shared interest in making LA better, together. Right now, our Youth Ambassadors are spreading the word about voting in the 2025 LA2050 Grants Challenge to their communities – friends, family, classmates, co-workers, and neighbors. In return, they learn about our local impact sector and receive training in community outreach. Read more about our LA2050 Youth Ambassador Cohort: https://lnkd.in/gv6ks48b

We're taking it to the streets of Los Angeles to find out what Angelenos really care about during the #LA2050GrantsChallenge, for our series we're calling, "What's Your Issue, LA?" On a recent sunny, windy Monday morning, we met Amae, a USC undergraduate student. Clad in sweats and on her way to Trader Joe’s following an early morning class, Amay stopped to share with us what issue is most important to her. In regards to the issue of homelessness, Amae said “I’m not from LA, so it’s very shocking to see so many people living on the streets.” Let us know what YOU care about by voting here: https://lnkd.in/g6z4kUeE – it will help distribute $1M across Los Angeles to the top-voted issues. #LATogether https://lnkd.in/gi3HDj7f
