Last Friday, after touring Swift Transportation headquarters, a group of supply chain management students at Grand Canyon University visited our Phoenix Terminal! Josh Stofko, Roxanne B., and Audree Baker held an interactive panel covering an array of topics — from logistics and legal to account management — along with their personal career paths. Of course, the discussion was crashed by a lively Top Gun parade! Afterwards, led by Jason Lewis, they explored the operations floor, driver amenities, historic trucks, and a BRAND NEW 2025 Freightliner Cascadia 🚚 Perhaps the highlight of the day, however, was their time on the trucking simulators. Each of them took turns learning the controls and navigating through different courses. Today marks an incredible milestone for Kristina M. as she celebrates 25 years with Knight — a journey that began when she was just a teenager! “I started at Knight when I was 16 years old while going to high school and working at Sears (RIP),” she shares. This unofficial summer job of helping the Payroll Department with filing transformed into a career now over 2 decades long. These days, Kristina plays a key role in Port operations. When asked about the most rewarding part of her journey, she says "Seeing how much I was able to save on per diem expenses for Port over the past few years. It may not seem like much, but there is so much time and effort that goes into these that once it’s finally removed from the account, it’s a feeling of accomplishment and a sigh of relief for me.” Her manager Nicole notes, "Her perseverance and dedication to the difficult role she has is legendary. She remembers when drivers were still sending in their paperwork via snail mail… Her experience and knowledge, from several roles and working alongside so many people, has provided all of us with great stories and invaluable insight." Kristina credits her longevity to the people she’s worked with over the years. “They have helped me grow with the company over the years and have taught me so much that I am thankful for. When you work with amazing people, it’s hard to leave.” Outside of work, she enjoys the comfort of home and spending time with her family — including her two daughters, husband (her high school sweetheart), and two beloved dogs. “I spend most of my time chasing my Rotterman around my house trying to take whatever she has out of her mouth, so we can avoid another trip to the vet,” she jokes. “If I do go out it’s usually with my 14-yr old and we go window shopping, lunch, then back home to veg.” If she could go back in time to her first day, she’d tell herself: “Speak up for yourself, and go for those opportunities that present themselves. Don’t be afraid to take on new challenges and put your self out there. Nothing can hold you back from succeeding, and if you fail, get back up and continue moving forward. Don’t let anything or anyone hold you back from progressing.” Kristina’s journey is a true testament to growth, dedication, and the power of perseverance. Today marks the day of passing my CDL test and becoming an Official CDL Holder! Thank you to Knight Transportation for your amazing CDL school. All the instructors gave me the tools I needed for this day to become a reality!
