We couldn’t agree more with Aaron A. Woodall insights! It’s not just about what disinfectant you use—it’s HOW you use it that truly matters. That’s why Kinnos is pioneering color technology for ready-to-use disinfecting wipes—ensuring complete surface coverage and effective mechanical action in real-time.
Once the patient is gone, you don’t have to follow the precautions that were in place because the germs left. This is one of the most dangerous misconceptions in #InfectionPreventionandControl (IPC). Precautions don’t disappear the moment a patient is discharged or transferred. The room, equipment and any surfaces the #patient came into contact with can still harbor pathogens which pose a risk to anyone who enters before proper cleaning and disinfection are completed. For example C. diff spores can survive on surfaces for months if not adequately cleaned with the right disinfectant. Pathogens like MRSA or VRE don’t magically disappear when the patient does. Terminal cleanings after discharge are in place for a reason, to protect the next patient, staff and even visitors from exposure. It’s so important to ensure that precautions remain in effect until the environment has been fully sanitized according to established guidelines. Skipping this step is like leaving the door wide open for the next infection to walk in. This kind of bad advice highlights the need for ongoing education about the chain of infection and the role of environmental cleaning in breaking it.
