  • Autism isn’t just something to “be aware” of. It’s a reminder that we all experience and process the world in beautifully different ways. For some, that means needing quieter spaces, clearer communication, or just a little more understanding. For others, it means bringing incredible focus, creativity, or perspective that pushes teams forward in ways we didn’t even expect. This day isn’t just about recognition. It’s about respect, inclusion, and creating spaces where people don’t have to hide who they are to belong. Let’s keep learning. Let’s keep listening. Let’s build workplaces that make room for every kind of brilliance. To the autistic community: You deserve more than awareness. You deserve to be celebrated. 💛 #WorldAutismAwarenessDay #Neurodiversity #InclusionMatters #DifferentNotLess #LeadWithEmpathy

  • Neurodivergent kids don’t just think differently or see the world in unique ways—they feel the world differently too. And that takes up space. Mental space. Emotional space. Space that could be used to learn, connect, and thrive. Imagine wearing a shirt with a tag that never stops itching. Socks that feel just a little too tight. The seam of your pants pressing against your skin in a way you can’t ignore. Now imagine feeling all of it, all day—every moment. No relief. For many neurodivergent kids, sensory input isn’t just an occasional irritation—it’s a constant battle. The hum of fluorescent lights in a classroom isn’t background noise, it’s a relentless buzz drilling into their focus. The feeling of fabric against the skin isn’t a passing thought, it’s an unshakable distraction. These aren’t quirks. They are daily realities that drain energy, patience, and the ability to engage fully in the world around them. Understanding this isn’t about making the world “easier” for them. It’s about making it accessible. When we acknowledge sensory needs and create environments that support them, we’re not just showing empathy—we’re opening doors. Let’s build spaces where all kids, regardless of how they process the world, can feel safe, understood, and comfortable just being themselves. #Neurodiversity #SensoryOverload #InclusionMatters #UnderstandingNeurodivergence https://lnkd.in/g3ddPiNx

  • Incredible progress—both the NY Senate and Assembly have committed to restoring the $9.6 million Medicaid ABA cut! 🎉 This is a huge step forward, thanks to the collective effort of everyone who sent letters, participated in advocacy days and supported NYSABA’s testimony. A special shout-out to champions like Assembly Member Amy Paulin, Senator Gustavo Rivera, and Assembly Member Andrew Hevesi for their leadership. But we’re not done yet! The final budget deal is due March 31, 2025, and there may still be challenges ahead, including potential pushback from the Governor’s office. We’ll need your help again soon—stay tuned for action steps! A heartfelt thank you to our Public Policy Chair Maureen O’Grady, Co-Chair Dr. Debbi Napolitano, the Public Policy Committee, and our lobbyist Julia Donnarumma for their dedication. thank you to everyone for your ongoing support! 🙌 Let’s keep this momentum going and continue advocating for what’s right! 💪 #NYSABA #ABAAdvocacy #ProtectMedicaidABA

  • The ABA community is no stranger to advocacy. We have always fought to ensure children receive the life-changing support they need, and today, we must come together once again. The Governor’s proposed budget includes a $9.6 million reduction in Medicaid funding for ABA services in New York State. This cut directly threatens essential services for children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities. If enacted, it will mean fewer opportunities for those who rely on ABA therapy to develop critical life skills and reach their full potential. We cannot let this happen. We must act quickly to inform the legislature that we reject these cuts and demand continued investment in the services our children depend on. Every voice counts! ✅ Contact your legislators today and share your story about the impact of ABA services. ✅ Call your state representatives and express your concerns directly. Find your Assembly Member contact info here: https://lnkd.in/eEif7zy Find your Senator's contact info here: https://lnkd.in/dSYygVY ✅ Join us in Albany for NYSABA Advocacy Days on March 3rd Our children deserve better. Let’s stand together and ensure that Medicaid continues to fund the critical services they rely on.
