Trade on the outcome of events

About us

The first US federally regulated exchange where you can trade on the outcome of any event. Kalshi’s historical regulatory approval from the CFTC enables it to offer a new asset class called “event contracts,” which allow traders to take positions on whether a future event will happen or not. Kalshi aims to enable investors to trade on almost anything with economic relevance from Covid numbers to whether a bill will pass in Congress, broadening the historical definition of what a commodity derivative is and paving the way for the futures market to catch up to the novel risks facing the economy today. Kalshi is backed by Sequoia, Henry Kravis, Charles Schwab, and Y Combinator.

Kalshi just filed suit in federal court against the states of Nevada and New Jersey. As promised, Kalshi will keep fighting for the right of prediction markets to thrive. Over the last decade, the concept of objective truth has been dangerously eroded by aggressive politicization, rampant misinformation, and biased journalism. Without the ability to agree on some of the basics and without truth… we are blind… a society evolving without direction, endlessly debating itself into oblivion. Prediction markets have proven themselves to be the antidote. They mobilize the most elegant and effective properties of free financial markets towards the pursuit of unbiased truth. They are the quintessential truth machines. With trust in traditional institutions at an all-time low, people are turning to prediction markets at an astronomical pace. The growth of the ecosystem in the last year is a testament to how important they have become to the American people. We need prediction markets… now, more than ever. While they are not our regulators, both states have issued cease and desist orders that fundamentally misunderstand prediction markets and undermine the foundation of U.S. financial markets, which are regulated by the federal government. We have made every effort to engage proactively with both Nevada and New Jersey and try to educate them about prediction markets, how they are regulated, and how critical they are… but our words fell on deaf ears. I can’t speak to why they are taking this action, but prediction markets have proven their use, so it is a shame that these authorities are still trying to censor them. We are left with no choice: sue.

Cinema is an experience—just like trading on Kalshi. Enjoy the Oscars, and see you tonight!

After successfully beating the federal government in a historic court battle and legalizing prediction markets in America, we had one month to go mainstream… one month to run one of the boldest marketing campaigns of the decade. Given the time crunch, we decided to go big and launch a massive ad campaign on cable TV. We partnered with Stink Studios and MJZ — two of the best creative and production studios — to make a killer commercial. Beautifully produced, highly cinematic, top tier cast, A-List director… Hollywood-level production. We got it done in record time and were ready to go… but: Every TV outlet blocked our ad and censored it from airing for reasons unknown to us. We ended up not running our election commercial, which was extremely disappointing. I was on the verge of losing my mind: we had spent a ton on this commercial, and the board was pissed. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise. While cable has since agreed to air it, our other channels were so successful that we felt it was best to go direct. No more middle-men. We deliver the message straight to you. I hope you enjoy our ad for the Oscars.
