About us
We envision a world where young people have the skillset and mindset to build thriving communities. Our volunteer-delivered, kindergarten-12th grade programs foster work-readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills, and use experiential learning to inspire students to dream big and reach their potential. With the help of more than 1000 local volunteers, JA reaches more than 29,000 students annually and helps them develop the skills they need to experience the realities and opportunities of work and entrepreneurship in the 21st-century global marketplace. What does it take to volunteer? Just FIVE 30-45 minute classroom visits! Teach lessons out of a pre-written, step-by-step guide about money, jobs, and entrepreneurship! Classrooms all over Lincoln, Grand Island, and Kearney need volunteers!

At Junior Achievement, our mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy—and last Friday, we got to bring that mission to life at Lincoln High School! Alexis Wingert and Elena Madsen from our JA team had the opportunity to participate in mock interviews with students from the Take Charge business class. Each met with about a dozen students to help them sharpen their interview skills and build confidence. While there were some nerves at the beginning, most students quickly warmed up and truly impressed us with their passion, stories, and drive. We were proud to be joined by professionals from Union Bank & Trust, Legacy Retirement Communities, and the Army National Guard, who helped create a powerful experience for these students. Hands-on experiences like this are at the heart of JA’s focus on work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. We’re continually inspired by the next generation of leaders—and grateful for the community partners who help us support them every step of the way.
