As Chair of the Memorial and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundations, Beth-Ann Krimsky brings a rare combination of professional expertise and deeply personal passion. A partner at Greenspoon Marder LLP and the national litigation chair, Beth-Ann joined the Foundations’ board in 2019, driven by a desire to give back to the very hospitals that cared for her own son. “We never expected to need it, but we’re so grateful we had access to this level of care right in our community,” she says. Beth-Ann champions philanthropy that makes a meaningful difference, supporting the medical teams, technology, and programs that touch lives every day. Her leadership is grounded in values instilled early by her parents, who led by example when it came to volunteering and community involvement. “Giving your time, your expertise, or even just being present for someone, it all matters,” she says. With deep gratitude for her family, firm, and fellow board members, Beth-Ann is helping shape a healthier, more connected future for South Florida. Join her in making an impact. At Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, extraordinary care isn’t just about medicine, it’s about compassion, dedication, and making a lasting impact on patients and their families. Julia Miller, Child Life Specialist, exemplifies this every day. One of Julia’s most beloved patients’ mothers said, “Julia’s influence has been pivotal in helping our daughter Sofia remain hopeful and engaged in her care despite the circumstances and continual setbacks.” Whether offering emotional support, helping a child find their voice in their healthcare journey, or simply being a steady presence during difficult moments, Julia makes a difference in ways that go far beyond her role. The Sunflower Award recognizes caregivers like Julia who bring kindness, empathy, and exceptional service to patient care. Paired with the DAISY Award, which honors extraordinary nurses, these awards celebrate those who go above and beyond to improve the patient experience. 🌻 Congratulations, Julia, on this well-earned recognition! #DaisyAward #SunflowerAward

Congratulations to Lisa O'Brien, MS, ASN, RN, CCRN, CPN, one of our Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care clinical nurses, for being named the 2025 National DAISY Honoree for Ethics in Nursing Practice! 🩺 Lisa’s unwavering dedication to ethical nursing and care has earned her this recognition from the DAISY Foundation and the American Nurses Association (ANA). Thinking about how some of the greatest connections come from shared experiences. Leo, a one-year-old Cocker Spaniel, was born with a cleft lip and palate - a condition that made him different from the start. But that difference is exactly what made him perfect for Randy. Randy was born with Apert Syndrome, a rare craniofacial condition, and has undergone numerous operations at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, including an urgent procedure to open Randy’s airway. His mom, Elsie, a patient advocate for the Cleft and Craniofacial Team, immediately saw the bond that could form between a boy and a puppy who understood each other in ways words couldn’t express. “When I saw Leo’s picture, I knew he was meant to be part of our family. Randy has faced many challenges, and I wanted him to have a companion who truly understood what it’s like to be ‘different.’ Leo is more than a pet; he’s a symbol of resilience and love," said Elsie. When Randy and his mom met Leo, it was meant to be. Now, Leo is training to become a therapy dog, bringing comfort and understanding to children born with cleft and craniofacial conditions, one paw and bright smile at a time. 🐾❤️ Elsie credits Dr. Samuel Ostrower, Chief, Pediatric Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery Program at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, for saving Randy's life. Dr. Ostrower and our ENT specialists are dedicated to providing compassionate care for children with congenital conditions like Randy’s. Because at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, we know that ENT health is about more than medicine; it’s about changing lives.
