Healing children and families with loving kindness.

About us

At JFCS, we believe in healing the world with loving kindness. Because mental health is essential to community health, we are committed to offering person-centered treatment with effective strategies for coping and emotional healing. We are trauma experts. Our core trauma-informed therapy services are available to Tucson’s children, families and adults who have witnessed, or have been victims of crime or abuse. Special trauma-related programs also serve Tucson's first responders, Holocaust Survivors, and others who have experienced recent and historical trauma. In addition to social services and trauma-related therapy, JFCS specializes in general counseling services for anxiety, family & marriage counseling, conflict resolution, bereavement, and other life challenges. We also provide direct emergency financial assistance, older adult support services, and Passover food baskets to struggling Jewish individuals and their families. Additionally, more than 60 Holocaust Survivors depend on JFCS for case management, counseling, financial assistance, in-home support services and socialization. For over 76 years, JFCS has served thousands of people of all faiths, age and gender groups, ethnic and racial backgrounds—regardless of their ability to pay. We strive to reduce the stigma of seeking mental health services, and to strengthen our community by helping people embark on a path for healing and self-sufficiency. • We're pleased to announce that Raisa Moroz, Director of Holocaust Survivor Services at Jewish Family and Children's Services of Southern Arizona, will be participating in an important panel discussion at the Tucson Jewish Museum & Holocaust Center. Finding a Literary Voice as a Child of Survivors: A Panel 📅 Friday, March 14, 2025 🕚 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Raisa will join two distinguished authors: Joel Waldman, Emmy Award-winning journalist and co-host of "Surviving the Survivor" and Dr. Mimi Zieman, OB/GYN and author of the award-winning memoir "Tap Dancing on Everest" This meaningful conversation will explore the complex experience of being children and grandchildren of Holocaust survivors, and how literary expression helps preserve these crucial historical narratives. Since joining JFCS in 2009, Raisa has been instrumental in documenting survivors' stories, co-creating two volumes of "To Tell Our Stories: Holocaust Survivors in Southern Arizona." Her dedication to Holocaust education and survivor support recently earned her recognition from the Network of Jewish Human Service Agencies (NJHSA), where she now co-chairs two NETGroups for Holocaust Survivor Services professionals. The intergenerational transmission of Holocaust memory is vital for ensuring these stories continue to educate and inspire. We invite you to join us for this important discussion on how the second and third generations are finding their voices. Register here: https://lnkd.in/giFFAr62
