We launched our new Tampa Smokers cigars last night at the Tampa Baseball Museum, celebrating the legacy of Tampa’s first professional baseball team. A sold-out crowd of 150 cigar and baseball enthusiasts attended, including former Tampa Bay Rays managers Larry Rothschild and Joe Maddon.⁠ ⁠ Drew Newman, fourth-generation owner, spoke about the connection between cigars and baseball, marking the occasion with a cigar that honors the Tampa Smokers, a team named after the city’s cigar heritage.⁠ ⁠ Tampa Smokers cigars are hand-rolled at J.C. Newman’s El Reloj factory in Tampa in two sizes, a 6” x 52 toro and a 7” baseball bat. A single master cigar roller produces just 80 Tampa Smokers cigars per day using an Ecuadorian Shade wrapper, Connecticut Broadleaf binder, and filler tobaccos from Latin America.⁠ ⁠ The event coincided with the 100th anniversary of baseball spring training in Tampa. Next month, Tampa Smokers cigars will be available at 200 retailers in Major League Baseball cities in time for Opening Day.⁠ ⁠ All proceeds from the event were donated to the Tampa Baseball Museum to support its efforts in preserving Tampa’s baseball history.
