A recent New York Times article examines the ongoing debate around glyphosate (Round Up), but often overlooked is the funding behind many cited studies—largely from the chemical industry itself. Consider this: Bayer has already paid over $10 billion in glyphosate-related lawsuits, while 10 countries including Mexico and Germany have banned the chemical outright. The article concludes that "the best way to reduce exposure to glyphosate and other chemicals may be by switching to organic food when possible." But this begs the question: who will grow this food? Iroquois Valley farmers! Our network of organic producers has eliminated an astonishing 8.2 million pounds of synthetic chemicals from our food system since 2014—protecting not just consumers, but our soil, water, and farming communities. When you support organic agriculture, you're not just making a healthier choice for your family. You're investing in a regenerative food system that prioritizes long-term human and environmental health over short-term profits. #IroquoisValley #FarmersFirst #ESG #OrganicInvesting #InvestingForImpact #OrganicFarming #RegenerativeFarming #FamilyFarm #SustainableAgriculture #FarmlandTransition #SustainableAgriculture #Organic #OrganicFood #RegenerativeAgriculturalTransition #ImpactInvesting #ConservationRanching #Glyphosate https://lnkd.in/eYtGh2Mw

Our farmer, Adam Roberts, shares an excellent perspective on why investments at Iroquois Valley are impactful for our farmers and unique in the investment landscape.
How Can Farmland Investments Lead to Positive Environmental and Farmer Outcomes? An insightful webinar last week - hosted by RFSI - gave some great perspective on this question. First-generation Illinois corn, soy and wheat farmer Adam Roberts shared the important role that investment partnerships can have on enabling access to farmland (especially for new farmers) and on the expansion of organic regenerative acres. Adam provides some specific context for the role investment company Iroquois Valley Farmland REIT has served his journey to becoming an organic regenerative farmer: 💬 The hardest part about becoming a farmer is… to knock on someone’s door and say, ‘I’d like to manage your multimillion dollar asset and I think I can do it better than everyone else and I’m not even a farmer.’ 💬 In a capitalist society things tend to conglomerate. You know the big get bigger and the ones that aren't growing, kind of get smaller… so when it comes to buying land…it's almost impossible for me to compete on that stage…Iroquois Valley allows me to compete on a stage with a bunch of larger farmers that have massive portfolios where they can buy massive. 💬 Without Iroquois Valley I would probably be a hobby farmer not a full-time farmer. 💬 Iroquois Valley offers opportunities to younger farmers that they would never have. Investments in farmer access to farmland can enable the next generation of organic regenerative farmers to grow their impact! #organic #organicfarming #regenerativefarming #farmland #investment
