  • On April 7, 2025, we join the global community in celebrating World Health Day and their kick off to a year-long campaign focused on maternal and newborn health. The campaign, titled Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures, calls on governments and the health community to ramp up efforts to end preventable maternal and newborn deaths and prioritize women's long-term health and well-being. At IFPA, we are committed to advocating for better nutrition and health policies that support women, infants, and children which include but are not limited to: 🍎 WIC Program and advocating to secure full funding of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) in 2024 after proposed cuts to the program, and ensuring access to healthy fruits and vegetables 🍎Child Nutrition Programs which include supporting children's access to a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables in school meals, WIC, and SNAP. 🍎Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) by recommending the expansion of FFVP to all low-income elementary schools and eventually to middle and high schools. 🍎Modernization of USDA procurement programs by supporting the modernization of USDA procurement programs to include a broader range of fresh produce and increase distribution to underserved communities through nonprofit organizations.
