Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Center held an interview attire fashion show last month to demonstrate do’s and don’ts for dressing for an interview. The event featured student volunteers who modeled appropriate attire for job interviews, as well as staff members who modeled attire that should be avoided in professional dress. Muhlenberg Job Corps Center held its annual Health Fair on March 20th, providing an informational and interactive event for students. Local community health providers set up booths offering insights on a variety of health topics, including blood pressure management, personal hygiene, pregnancy awareness, and drug and alcohol treatment and prevention. One activity from the event allowed students to use “drunk goggles,” simulating blood alcohol concentration levels, giving them a firsthand experience of the dangers of impaired judgment and coordination. Cincinnati Job Corps Center partners with various local organizations to provide students with opportunities to serve their community. Last month, 27 students participated in community service, some of them volunteering at multiple locations. The local organizations in March included Woodlawn Community Center, Western Wildlife Corridor, Cincinnati Association for the Blind & Visually Impaired (CABVI), and Saint Francis Seraph Ministries. Turner Job Corps students recently gave back in a meaningful way by participating in Read Across America Week at Cooper Carver Elementary School. With hearts full and books in hand, seven students and two staff members spent three hours reading aloud to young learners—bringing stories to life, encouraging literacy, and making lasting memories.
