Cincinnati Job Corps Center partners with various local organizations to provide students with opportunities to serve their community. Last month, 27 students participated in community service, some of them volunteering at multiple locations. The local organizations in March included Woodlawn Community Center, Western Wildlife Corridor, Cincinnati Association for the Blind & Visually Impaired (CABVI), and Saint Francis Seraph Ministries. Students assisted with various projects and tasks, including cleaning up and organizing, event setup, sealing and painting display boards, transferring bushes to a new area on the preserve, preparing/serving dinner, and helping people get onto the bus. #community #service #lifeskills #volunteer #partnership #purposebeginshere #careersbeginhere #jobcorpsworks

Turner Job Corps students recently gave back in a meaningful way by participating in Read Across America Week at Cooper Carver Elementary School. With hearts full and books in hand, seven students and two staff members spent three hours reading aloud to young learners—bringing stories to life, encouraging literacy, and making lasting memories. These acts of service not only benefit local elementary students but also empower Job Corps students to be active, compassionate members of their communities. Muhlenberg Job Corps Center hosted FleeTec® Academy on March 18th for an informative session on their on-the-job training program with career pathways in the diesel and fleet maintenance industry. Approximately 30 students were in attendance, and they were also able to tour a technician vehicle. Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Center students have been working on the center installing new metal on an exterior wall. The students removed siding, fixed leaks, replaced damaged materials, and installed the new tin, finishing up a Career Technical Skills Training (CTST) project. The job description also included installing proper flashing/moisture barriers and insulation.
