New England’s first competitive LTTP RFP will be worth billions of dollars. Are you ready to model the changes in the complex power system? The states requested the Longer-Term Transmission Planning (LTTP) RFP through NESCOE, the New England State Committee on Electricity. It will be run by ISO-NE according to the LTTP rules approved by FERC. The main goal is to strengthen the connection between northern and southern New England. This will enable better power flow between areas of generation and load. The key RFP requirements are: 1. Increase the Surowiec-South interface limit to at least 3,200 MW. 2. Increase the Maine-New Hampshire interface limit to at least 3,000 MW. 3. Accommodate the interconnection of at least 1,200 MW of new onshore wind. 4. Complete the proposed upgrades by 2035. The draft RFP was released on 3/14/25. The 7-day stakeholder comment period ended on 3/21/25. ISO-NE posted the feedback received, and they are working quickly to provide responses. The final RFP is expected to be issued in the next week or two. INS Engineering has a detailed knowledge of the ISO-NE system, and we are looking forward to modeling RFP proposals and testing them for conformance to the requirements. Alert: Developers rushing to comply with ERCOT NOGRR-245 may inadvertently jeopardize project integrity. Overextending plant capabilities to withstand fault events heightens the risk of TOV-induced equipment damage. Achieving NOGRR-245 compliance with IEEE-2800 without risking equipment integrity demands expertise in modeling, design, and protective measures. INS has been supporting projects to operate safely while being compliant. #NOGRR_245, #IEEE_2800, #TOV, #Surge_Arrester

We’re excited to share a flowchart we designed to help navigate the latest ERCOT NOGRR245 requirements! The revised ride-through and protection capabilities outlined in the ERCOT Nodal Operating Guides (NOG) are now in effect, with data submissions due by April 1, 2025. To streamline this process, we created a flowchart that helps determine which requirements apply to your project based on its operational status or stage in the interconnection process. Feel free to reach out to INS on how we can help get your project compliant. Download the flowchart here: https://lnkd.in/gR_c66UA
