This 38 year old CEO became one of only four Black women in history to create a startup worth $1 billion dollars. Meet Dr. Iman Abuzeid, CEO of Incredible Health. Born to Sudanese parents in Saudi Arabia, Iman's early life was steeped in medicine. Like many children of immigrants, Iman sought to follow in her family's footsteps. Her father, an ENT surgeon, and her two older brothers, also surgeons, influenced her path. She earned her medical degree from University College London, then moved to the United States at 24. She knew the only way to change healthcare was through business innovation, so she enrolled at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. By 2011, Iman graduated with an MBA in Healthcare Management. She began her career in finance at McKinsey & Company. Next, she moved into the startup world, where she became a Product Development leader. Inspired by the startup world, Iman decided to strike it out on her own. In 2017, driven by a desire to address the nursing shortage in American hospitals, Iman co-founded Incredible Health. The platform utilizes algorithm-based technology to connect health systems with nurses, streamlining the hiring process and reducing the national average hiring time from 90 days to 20 days. Under her leadership, Incredible Health experienced rapid growth. By 2019, the company raised a $15 million Series A round led by Andreessen Horowitz. Then, the pandemic hit. The company took off even bigger. By August 2022, the company raised an $80 million Series B funding round, propelling its valuation to $1.65 billion and earning it "unicorn" status. When asked how she achieved such a milestone, Iman believes that investors just aren't paying attention. She shared: "It's probably not a good idea to overlook female CEOs or Black CEOs. Because they're driving an enormous amount of value in business. And you overlook it at your own expense." As the fourth Black female founder in history to lead a company valued over $1 billion, Iman's success is rare. In fact, this success puts her in the same ranking as another iconic founder: Rihanna. Yet, despite this remarkable achievement, her name remains unfamiliar to many. That's why I'm sharing stories of trailblazing women like Iman every Wednesday for #WomenFounderWednesday. 🔔 Subscribe for more stories like this: https://lnkd.in/gbq8cm82

In honor of International Women's Day, Incredible Health is celebrating all of the women on our team who are passionate and dedicated to empowering healthcare professionals to find and do their best work 💙 International Women’s Day is about more than just celebration—it’s about progress. Women make up nearly half of the workforce, yet only 25% of roles in tech are held by women—and the gap is even wider in leadership. In startups, only 28% of leadership positions are held by women, and even fewer women serve as founders or executives. As a fast-growing technology startup with amazing women on every team, we recognize this disparity, and we are proving every day that we are committed to helping to close it 🙌 #InternationalWomensDay
