Rachel was selected among her peers as someone who drives change, pushes the industry forward, and is leaving an indelible mark on the sports world. Congrats to Sixth Street on their stake in the San Francisco Giants, joining our friends at Arctos as partial owners of this iconic MLB franchise. This is an exciting win for their private equity firm, for the team, and for the continued evolution of sports as an institutional asset class. These organizations are evolving from sports “teams” to sports “enterprises,” which is why the deal rationale so intriguing. Reportedly the Giants will leverage the fund for upgrades to their 25-year-old stadium and investments in real estate adjacent to the ballpark. Larry Baer, the team’s longtime CEO, articulated this perfectly. “New capital is necessary in today’s world. This is not about a stockpile for the next Aaron Judge.  This is about making big bets on San Francisco and the community around us, and having the firepower to take us into the next generation.” Couldn’t have said it better ourselves! #IMPACT Rachel Heit, Larry Baer, Jose Martín https://lnkd.in/gE6rreaE

A lot of momentum heading into year-end here at Arctos. Some of my favorite highlights from the last few months: Arctos' Annual Meeting: In September, we convened our investors, colleagues and friends at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami to update our investors on their portfolio, provide our market perspective and share our vision and expectations for the next year. A special thanks to our colleagues who worked tirelessly to make this our best AGM yet. Conference Tour: In October, I had the pleasure of joining Scott Wapner for a broadcast interview on CNBC at CAIS Summit to discuss the strength of the sports industry and also participated in a panel discussion about sports as an asset class alongside Todd Boehly and Kara Nortman. I also had the opportunity to speak at the Goldman Sachs Alternatives Conference with Josh Harris and Justin Tuck as well as Chicago’s Invest For Kids Conference with Ted Seides and Tom Ricketts, where we talked about sports as a people connector, civic entrepreneurship, sports investments and community leadership. Really enjoyed all three events and the opportunity to talk across disciplines with such impressive people. Dr. Direct Alpha: We are thrilled to welcome Barry Griffiths to the Arctos Insights team as a Senior Advisor. Barry has been a friend, mentor and colleague for most of my career. A bunch of us are really excited to have another chance to work alongside this legend. Dr. Griffith’s contributions to private markets are significant and widely respected and, more importantly, his laugh is very contagious. World Series Victory: Congratulations to our partners at the Los Angeles Dodgers on their 2024 World Series victory—the team’s eighth championship and the third North American Big Four championship in the young Arctos portfolio. Also a big win for Major League Baseball (MLB) - World Series viewership in the U.S. averaged 15.8 million across its platforms, a +67% increase versus last year and the most-watched series since the seven-game 2017 World Series. Tampa Bay Lightning Exit: Very excited to deliver liquidity to our investors in the Tampa Bay Lightning. We are excited about what the new partnership between Jeff Vinik and a consortium led by Doug Ostrover and Marc Lipschultz means for the club, the community and our investors and are proud of our role in bringing these exceptional leaders together. With six weeks to go to close out the year, I want to thank everyone who has contributed to an incredible 2024. But we aren’t done yet – some big stuff in the pipeline to close out the year. Yesterday, we celebrated the Los Ángeles Dodger victory, made possible by immigrants on and off the field and players who reflect the city itself, gathered at Gloria Molina Grand Park on Fernando Valenzuela's birthday. The thump of the banda music, the smell of carne asada tacos in the air and fans wearing Ohtani, Freeman and Betts t-shirts waving Los Doyers flags. Families, three and four generations deep framed by bright orange Marigolds and papel picado honoring Día de los muertos. Angelenos filled the streets, our joy on full display for the community’s win in this All-American sport of béisbol. What a contrast to the divisive rehetoric playing this election season, blaming the "other" for everything that is destroying this country. The real LA shined - and perhaps that is what those who demonize us most fear. To see a diverse community come together, not as outsiders, but as Americans. Yesterday, LA showed the world what it looks like to be a place where everyone belongs and is celebrated for their contributions to the American story.
