Please welcome the newest member of the NY Advisory Board Flaviu Simihaian Flaviu moved from Romania to the U.S. at 14 with the help of Rotary International to play junior tennis, eventually competing for Davidson College and pursuing a brief professional tennis career. In 2012, he co-founded @iMedicare, a technology company that helped millions of seniors save on prescription costs before being acquired by Omnicell in 2020. He then co-founded Troy, a Medicare Advantage company, and Aventi.AI, a software platform that helps hospitals and clinics navigate the U.S. 340B healthcare program. Beyond his entrepreneurial ventures, Flaviu is passionate about giving back. He founded 1 Percent Back (1PB.org) to support entrepreneurs from disadvantaged backgrounds and is actively involved with several nonprofits, including iMentor. As an iMentor volunteer, he mentors Rafy, a high school senior preparing to join the CUNY Hostos Community College game design program. Wow, what a night at the ABNY annual Women’s History Month event! I'm still buzzing from all the amazing energy from tonight! The ABNY Foundation team really outdid themselves - beautifully curated event that allowed for real connections to be born. Hearing from the Parks Commissioner Susan Donoghue was a real highlight. She gave us such a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the important work being done to revitalize our city's parks and public spaces including her work in adding more changing rooms for parents and more! But the moment that really got me was when Council Member Carlina Rivera ( who represents 2 of the schools at iMentor ) spoke even more about the issues in womens health we never hear about until its too late, like preeclampsia. This is something that's deeply personal for me, and it was so powerful to see someone in her position shining a light on it. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 And the emphasis on mentorship? Amen to that! My colleague Ashley Mu and I connected with so many incredible women who are paying it forward and empowering the next generation. The one-on-one learning is just invaluable. All in all, it was the perfect way to celebrate Women's History Month. Thank you Association for a Better New York (ABNY) for another fabulous event and to all the speakers! I wish i could tag all the amazing folks i met but im old and tired 🤣!
