During this time in our country, we find that there are many significant systems being impacted in the Health and Human Services Social Impact sector, which pushes us as an organization to be creative in our ability to adhere to our mission at ICOY- to champion the safety and well-being of all Illinois youth, children and families. The topic of immigration has especially been top of mind of due to the current political climate under the Trump Administration, including the emphasis on enforcement, restriction, and deterrence that has an immense shift from previous administrations’ more reform-oriented approaches. Take a moment to read one of our intern’s powerful personal reflection on immigration from the lens of a mixed-status family. This is a story of resilience, challenges, and hope. March 31st is International Transgender Day of Visibility. As part of our mission to champion the safety, well-being, and success of all Illinois’ children, youth, and families, we’ve published a blog post highlighting some of the valuable and historic contributions that trans folks have made to our world and resources we encourage everyone to utilize and learn from. Trans rights are human rights, so to our trans youth, families, and service providers, we see you, we love you, and we are with you today and everyday. Illinois Collaboration on Youth reposted this
This is the only photo from my childhood in Mexico.A few days later we made the dangerous journey across the border, full of hope and fear.We left everyone we loved because we had no choice, no future in our hometown.I still remember the journey and that fuels my passion for advocacy for the human rights of all im/migrant children and families. ⚖️🦋 #protectimmigrantfamilies

Last Friday, JB Pritzker, along with Juliana Stratton, Esq. and many Democratic members of Illinois' delegation to Congress and other advocates, spoke about the adverse effects the recently proposed federal budget framework would have on the many millions of Americans on Medicaid. The budget would dramatically scale back or even eliminate the Medicaid expansion program that was tied in with the Affordable Care Act. In Illinois, about a quarter of the population is afforded health care through Medicaid--including 1.4 million children. We ask that all ICOY members and our supporters contact their local, state, and federal representatives and urge them to speak up in opposition to this proposal. The negative impact that this budget will have on millions of hardworking Americans is impossible to understate. In your outreach to public officials, please use the figures provided by the resource below to emphasize how many of their constituents rely on Medicaid-covered care: https://lnkd.in/gzyXY8_D
