Hard to believe it’s already been a month since GDC wrapped! 🤯 Time flies when you’re surrounded by incredible people doing inspiring work. We’re still smiling thinking back on everything we were part of this year — from our alumni picnic (hello sunshine and snack sharing!) to the sold-out portfolio and resume review event packed with thoughtful feedback and nervous-but-excited energy. One of our biggest highlights? Bringing 🌟10 amazing grantees🌟 along for the ride as part of our annual GDC Program! Seeing them connect, learn, and grow in real-time was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. An extra special shoutout to our GDC Program speakers: Kenna Lindsay, Mitzi McGilvray, Neil Kirby, Stephanie Bedford, Iman Fayek, and Sitara Shefta! To everyone who joined us, supported us, mentored, or just said hi — thank you. This community means everything. 💛 ❤️ #GDC2025 #gamedev #mentorship #indiedev #nonprofit #GDCScholarImpact
IGDA Foundation
Computer Games
A 501 c3 charity focused on welcoming every person who wants to play and make games.
About us
The IGDA Foundation focuses on improving the lives of game developers by making game development a more diverse and inclusive community. We want every person on the planet to love playing games, and we think the best way to make that happen is to have a game development community that is inclusive of, and welcoming to, every person who wants to make games. We believe that diversity of all kinds in game development leads to better and more successful products and companies, and happier and more successful game developers. Participants in our programs are selected both for their excellence as individuals and for the promotion of a more diverse and inclusive community. We value diversity of all kinds, including gender, race, socio-economic background, sexual orientation, country of residence, age, and life experiences. We’ve designed our programs to be as welcoming to participants as possible, with attention to features like a travel stipend to make the program experiences accessible regardless of economic status. We encourage you to join us, our volunteers, our participants, our partners, and our sponsors in building a more inclusive game development community.

The IGDA Foundation is excited to welcome Shannon Loftis as the new chair of our board of directors!👏 Loftis is a game developer, industry leader, board member, mentor and consultant. She recently retired after nearly 30 years at Microsoft, primarily making games, building teams, and launching platforms. Most recently Shannon was studio head for World’s Edge, which is dedicated to the award-winning Age of Empires series. Her long-standing commitment to inclusion and connection stems from her experiences as the youngest in a large, close family. She is fascinated by and passionate about the ways technology and entertainment can build community, which has driven her career with a passion to forge connections. Loftis' appointment follows the departure of Ed Fries, who is stepping down after a successful 2 years leading the organization. We are incredibly grateful for his leadership and commitment to the IGDA Foundation as he continues to serve as a member of the board. #womeningaming #nonprofitorganization #gamingindustrynews
