Because Digestive Health Matters
About us
The International Foundation for Gastrointestinal Disorders (IFFGD) is a registered nonprofit education and research organization dedicated to informing, assisting, and supporting people living with a chronic digestive disorder. Functional gastrointestinal (GI) and motility disorders are a group of conditions that can affect any part of the digestive tract. They are among the most common conditions of GI function in the general population, affecting an estimated 1 in 4 people or more in the US - men, women, and children. Yet there continues to be a general lack of awareness in the public about these chronic and often debilitating conditions and many still suffer in silence. Founded in 1991, IFFGD works with patients and their families, physicians, nurses, practitioners, investigators, regulators, employers, and others to broaden understanding about these conditions, support and encourage research, and improve digestive health for all affected.
