We are committed to supporting what we call the four pillars of sustainability: environmental, social, human and economic. Environmentally, we consistently reduce our impact through innovation, awareness training and regulatory compliance. Socially, our team is composed of members from a wide array of backgrounds, cultures and abilities, each of whom enhances and advances the organization. The “human” pillar is represented by our commitment to safety through proactive risk assessment, awareness training and implementation of strict safety guidelines. And economically, we are committed to providing customers with products and services that meet or exceed their requirements. The Hutchinson reHuse program recovers and refurbishes customer-supplied used parts to repurpose and reuse, reducing both cost and environmental impact. This is welcome news to manufacturers looking to meet sustainability goals while keeping prices down despite escalating labor, energy and material costs. Our first large-scale reHuse success story saved $1.2 million, shortened turnaround time and reduced production treatment waste and CO2 emissions by an estimated 40 percent. Read all about it—and the reHuse program—in the full case study: https://ow.ly/bVOy50UCbvx. #ReduceReuseRecycle #Sustainability #RePurpose #Manufacturing

There was no easy, drop-in solution to test Navy mount performance while in active use over extended periods of time. We recognized the value that data would hold, not just for us, but for our customers. The solution? We designed an instrumented mount consisting of low-power electronics housed within a standard, qualified mount, capable of providing real-time, real-world data for up to five years on just three AA batteries. Contact us, and we’ll be happy to discuss the ways the new Hutchinson Instrumented Mount can be put to work for your organization: https://ow.ly/2ut950UCbrh. #Shock&Vibration #NavyMount #ProductTesting #Innovation

When a customer comes to us with a unique challenge, they often assume they need a custom solution. Sometimes that’s the case, and when it is, we’re happy to help. But in many cases, we’re able to apply our engineering and materials expertise to identify a standard part from our catalog of over 5,000 that can provide the solution. In doing so, we save our customers time and money on R&D, prototyping, tooling and production. Our intrepid rugby team traveled to Houston, TX, June 20–23 for the TotalEnergies international 100 Teams Rugby Tournament, where, as Team U.S.A., they played hard, played well and had a LOT of fun! Hutchinson AI teammates included Bobbie Haggerty, Hutchinson Ithaca team lead; Erlyn Santana, buyer/planner at Vlier; and Tony Lazo, Hutchinson HSA team lead. While we didn’t advance to the finals, we had some great wins and, most importantly, had fun and showed everybody why this is a great place to work! Congratulations and gratitude to Team U.S.A.! #RugbyTournament #HutchinsonAI #Vlier #TotalEnergies #WorkCulture #BeAGoodTeammateDay

Taking advantage of the opportunity to enhance our workforce recruitment efforts, we were selected to participate in the New England Talent Pipeline Project (NETPP), a U.S. Navy-funded project that provides employers with the tools, training and resources they need to increase their capacity to build submarines. On May 30, Hutchinson CEO Bob Andersen, machinist Giovanni Ferrara, and high security area technicians Pol Feliu Colon and Giany Rivera attended NETPP’s inaugural National Signing Day in Boston, gathering with local shipbuilding companies and suppliers, elected officials and community leaders. The U.S. Navy Submarine Industrial Base (SIB) program held the event to celebrate its 31 new employer partnerships and the future of the defense workforce. According to TMG - Consulting Engineers, Inc the company engaged to administer the NETPP, the Navy has determined it needs to hire 10,000 people in the submarine industrial base for the next 10 years. As the global leader in protecting equipment and systems, managing shock loads and isolating structure borne noise in naval environments, we are well positioned to contribute to the mission. We look forward to maximizing our impact through participation in the NETPP!
